We can't be dismissive and censor everything that we're ashamed of in the past.
yes we can, we have, we do, we will. it represents a time of idiocy and widely encouraged racism. for historical archiving it should be preserved, but it is clearly insulting and racist and as such it is banned from children's programming. good riddance. 😬

This is by far the BEST bugs bunny cartoon ever. ITs a banned episode of bugs...watch for him refering to the japs as nips, slant eyes and monkey face.Everytime he kills a jap he paints a jap flag on a tree, near the end he's surrounded by trees with nothing buy jap flags painted on them. Best quote from the entire cartoon..."heres some scrap iron for Japan MOtto"
Monkey face isn't realy that much of a racial insult is it ?
There are many ethnic groups in cartoons and older movies, mine included in those stereo types. I'm not offended.
So what if we're all making pizza and are organ grinders with monkeys....and say "Eh, whaz sa matta wit you? mamma mia. I slappa you face!"
And of course we all know cars with flat tires go wap wap wap wap.....and how many times can someone say "Dego here, dego there, dego everywhere".....LOL

But how can you relate any person, regardless of who they are, to a monkey and then say, "All in fun!"

The women are passionate. They are very charming. We kiss all the time. Well I guess some of it's true.

I don't know, I am just not offended because it's the way people used to think. Now I do have older relatives that get offended at some of it, but are very much proud of others aspects. And yeah, we do talk with our hands... 😂

I get all that but you did not even address the monkey thing

You're wrong if you say that these cartoons are not offensive. The whole premise of Bugs Bunny is modeled after the "coon" characiture of blacks back in the 20's-40's (in fact Bugs was colored black in his younger days). All those black animals in the cartoons that you're never really sure whether they are supposed to be Rip-off Mickey Mice, or monkeys, are modeled after the "sambo" characiture. Not to mention the countless cartoons that have taken place in jungles where all you see is savages, who are all drawn as the "sambo" characiture, but who at the time could've represented "savages" of African or Phillipine descent (between 1899-1910 US had conflcit with the Phillipines),chasing the character around trying to eat them. What's worse is that all these cartoons are/were aimed at kids which starts to pave the way for racists thoughts down the road. Now, granetd when the cartoons came out, blatant racisim was very much a part of the social climate so it was appproriate for then, but I'm glad the newer toons have gotten away from that.

Calling ANY person a monkey is offensive. What is so hard to get about that?
**** the historical context. That is disrespectful.

"Relieve stress" by putting down people of other races and backgrounds? Surely people can be more creative than that. I doubt I would accept most answers anyway but the "relieve stress" excuse shows that you really don't get it.
