Nope why should he? Mephisto not even the devil….nor would it matter. Just because there the highest class does not make them the most powerful. Example night crawlers father is the devil and yet Mephisto would stomp him.

Again with the assuming. It was not brought up for any reason other then the hell of it. I like Ba'al he one of my favorite villains and on of the few power houses I enjoy. It had nothing to do with wolverine. Wolverine loses this fight there not way around it.
