Thats a big move 😖

Quite. Impressive, most impressive.

Yeah...tell me about it.

As for MSN...I rarely have a chance to check my email, let alone chat. Crazy how real life kicks you in the balls.

Is it the thread title or did a bunch of old regulars just come out from hiding?

😑

8 kids, this guy is not normal, he should get an award for the best dad in the world(translation- the guy, you would least like to be).

Ha ha...we had some good times way back when...

Its just a thread like this brings out the true fans...because we're just not into shit like "OMG OB1 had sex with Padme!" or "Mace is the badddest Jed! in WORLD!!!!"

All that stupid shit is just lame and ended all serious, meaningful conversation.

Thank god we won't have another Prequel Trilogy.

And yes, yes Alliance, the Prequels do try and portray more depth than the OT, but trying to place in dramatic events of mythic proportion onto B-movie material simply does not work, as the prequels have shown. If Lucas really wants to tell a story about the welfare of soldiers and the ethics of clones; he'll get off his arse and create something new for once.

I agree with this, and one of the reasons why the PT comes off as cheesy yet it is trying to portray this tragic story about this one figure.

Say what you want about the OT movies, they are a basic good vs evil story, and for the type of movie George Lucas was making from 77-83, they succeed.

The PT had to have more drama because of the tragic tone, yet you can't make a fun yet tragic movie in the same vein cause it just doesn't work. You can't have Jar Jar Binks frollicking around in one movie, and Anakin/Padme spewing out awful lines in another movie, and then General Grevious cheesing up the last movie and then try to make this trilogy as something tragic like Schindlers List.

I can go through the list of great dramas in my movie collection, and SW movies are anything but that. Now I am not saying that the OT doesn't have its dramatic moments, cause it does, but when I think of drama I think Platoon not a SW movie.

Lucas forgot what made the OT great, they were fun movies yet they had a touch of a cool story, really great characters, a good mix of humor, and a touch of mythology, which all wrapped up in a trilogy of movies that appeal to kids, teenagers and adults.

The reason the OT rules is the characters. Period. Same goes for the 'New Republic' era of the expanded universe. We love those characters and want to spend time with them.

In the PT, no one give a shit about the characters. Its all forced. Mostly...that comes from shitty casting and shitty directing. The acting was so forced...there is nothing to relate to.

Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher made Star Wars what it is today. There are great acting and character moments in the PT, but the OT marinades in character.

A very good point.

BS. There's lousy acting in the PT too. Ford and Fisher stink in RotJ, they're awful. They don't even make an effort at good acting. They both rose above the dialogue in ANH and TESB, but they couldn't rise about their disdain for the Ewoks. I've always found their RotJ lack of effort contemptable. Sometimes even Guinness sounds bored.

I loved the characters in the PT. Qui-Gon's an awesome character. PT Obi-Wan has wonderful depth. Palpatine's amazing. I gave a **** about Anakin, the character is terribly troubled and torn in Aotc and RotS before he goes down the dark path. Padme's got spunk, and I don't hate spunk. Cheezy dialogue is in all 6 movies.

YAAAAHOOOO!!!!

Did you guys notice this news headline on this same site? (and no, it's not the same cluless reporter). Maybe I should keep it hush hush or it will start an uproar...

http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/02/11/geroge-lucas-says-empire-strikes-back-was-the-worst-star-wars-movie/

...actually, I'll post it on a couple more threads.

EDIT: The "Lucas is an Idiot" and "ESB is the best SW movie, period" threads are closed..drats!

I am tired of hearing the PT had bad characters, the OT talked about Han, Luke, Lea, young people with allot of passion, strong feelings, people say they wore disappointed about PT characters, because they wore boring, flat... but here is the catch, the PT talks about the Jedi, Jedi are very calm, centered, their feelings are in control, they are not like Han Solo, shooting things up and yelling Ehaaaaaaa, i can understand when people say they didn't have the energy of OT characters, but they ware never designed that way in the first place.

Becuase they are supposed to be calm and passive, does it make it ok that many of the Jedi were simply boring?

Because they are Jedi; and they must temper there emotions, be "mindful" of there feelings, so unbelieveable calm, they genuinely have no personality what so ever, no chance for character conflict (the driving factor of the OT). Old Ben was different because he was placed around others like Han who were different, but imagine a conversation between 5 Old Ben's? Jesus, that'd be dull.
