You know the role of Princess Leia was offered to Jodie Foster, but Disney wouldn't let her out of her contract, so George Lucas re-wrote the script to make her older so Carrie Fisher could do it.

In actuality, Carrie Fisher was an understudy Princess Leia.

Lucas was also looking at Nick Nolte and Christopher Walken for Han Solo. Didn't even consider Harrison Ford; Ford was just hanging around his office, installing a door.

He didnt re write the script to alter it for Fisher although its true he wanted Foster but the script never changed after he lost out on Jodie
there was another actress who nearly got the part called Terri Nun amongst Sissy Spacek and a few other chicks who appeared in CARRIE
