Word, he can. Mjolnir is basically a focusing lens for his own natural power.

Saw this scan in the respect thread. Correct me if I'm wrong but does it show Thor moving his body (as well as Mjolnir) at FTL speeds? 😖hifty:

hmm... seems like he spun his body ftl.

Yes he can.

I'm assuming this is the instance you are referring to.

He spins/move not only Mjolnir but himself at least in the beginning at faster than light speeds as far as I understand it.

So it's a good body movement speed feat.

Doom was treated like a ***** by Thor. Lol at the people who thought Thor could not handle Doom as easily as Sentry good.

Also notice Thor walking on air with Mjolnir at his side.

Yep. That's the one. Thanks.😄

I've never understood why people don't think Thor can't fly without Mjolnir given his control over the weather (ala Storm). I mean every time he throws the hammer while in the air, he doesn't exactly fall back down to earth. 😬

Yeah if that was really Doom he pretty much just punked him. You just never know since it could be one of his doombots. Btw it's like he is either floating slowly in a descent or sort of levitating above Doom. That's all without him having to twirl Mjolnir to jettison himself.

I'm a big fan of both Thor and Doom so I'm conflicted

No problem.

Well it has been stated that Thor can't fly without Mjolnir on an occasion or two. The earliest instance that I can recall is either one of the early fights with Loki back with Lee. Although I believe it was stated that he could not fly as he could not whirl his hammer in the crowded street but he flew after Loki anyways with his hammer at his side or maybe I'm thinking of a different instance. If it wasn't at the era the earliest would be with his fight with Hela in Hela's realm a good deal into Simson's run back in issue 361. Hela stated that Thor is earthbound even though he is the god of the storms but he leaps up and catches her anyways. It wouldn't have meant anything except that later on in the fight Thor stated that if Hela gets to the air the fight is lost.

It's been shown on more occasions that Thor can fly without his hammer than it's been shown he can't though as I recall.

I think it's the genuine Doom.

Yup. It at the very least shows he can float and direct himself in the air without Mjolnir.

Which makes sense if you think about it. His command of the weather should allow him to fly under his own power ala Storm, after all. I would personally love to see Marvel show more instances of Thor being uber without directly relying on Mjolnir. Too many people think he's a one trick pony and w/o the hammer and that his power is reduced greatly.

It does. I've used that argument before.

Even without Mjolnir Thor is still one of the physically toughest beings in comics up there with guys like Superman, has vast energy generation and manipulation abilities, can fly at speeds way beyond light, can manipulate matter etc.

What If - Secret Invasion

from an alternate universe. doesnt seem to be any power tweeking.
just thought it was a cool image.

Thor creates a world sized hurricane.

Thor owned Doom in his latest issue.

That's a very good showing for a Doombot, too.
