Isn't viewing a person as inferior strictly on skin color a form of hatred?
Hatred cannot necessarily be inferred from such beliefs. Not that it's totally unreasonable to assume for most individuals who hold such a belief. But ultimately it is speculating on the contents of one's heart.

I've referenced David Hume a lot on these forums so I'll use him again:
"I am apt to suspect the Negroes to be naturally inferior to the Whites. There scarcely ever was a civilised nation of that complexion, nor even any individual, eminent either in action or in speculation. No ingenious manufacture among them, no arts, no sciences"
There's nothing in that statement to imply that such a belief was borne of hatred.

It sounds like hatred to me. Hatred blinds people, and that statement was blind to the true facts.

Are you kidding me?

I don't quite understand how you're reaching that conclusion. There are plenty of reasons people fail to achieve "true facts." Why do you say it's hatred in this case?

Think about how what he said would effect a black person. It is a well crafted evil remark.
It's quite obvious it would be painful to hear such a thing. But you're ignoring my question restating your own speculation.

It is obvious, and I did not ignore your question. Are you a bigot?

Yes...you did. I asked how you came to the conclusion that his position was spawned of hatred and you said "well, because its an evil remark." It's hatred because it's hatred is begging the question.

Wow, I kind of take offense to that. Of course not. Absolutely not. For a few years of my life my only father figure was a black man.
