Well, look at it this way, it will most likely be made by George Lucas, and his word is law, so therefore it can be assumed it will be canon.

He is not directing this. The Ewok films are EU... and so do the Ewok and Droids cartoons... So what is this? Lucas has not said this is canon.

He doesn't really read it all and check it correctly, he just leaves guideline like Luke can't die for the post-ROTJ stuff, I really don't like those books...

For the TV-series, he would have to watch it and take stuff he doesn't like out.
