He defeated Sersi in battle, and he was able to battle both the X-Men and Avengers at the same time while simultaneously binding Scarlet Witch, Crystal, Jean, and Quicksilver in place, psychically influening the mutates on the island to kill the humans, and slowly bring down a telekinetic dome down on the entire island to crush it. Also while doing all of this, he shook off a mind attack from Professor X.

Well, Exodus, while backed up by his Acolytes, was afraid to confront Sinister.

They've both failed at taking him down.
