yes non canon so its not in continuity which means it doesnt count. the point is darkseid is fated to die at orions hands which means he is fated to die. and there is nothing he can do about it. of all the excuses why darkseid cant die its becuase the universe wont allow it. gimme a freaking break. if u want to get the nitpicky thanos kills all his worshippers and darkseid fights alone with no one worshipping him. see how tough he would be then. thanos needs no one else in his corner. darkseid has always needed an army and done little with it.
