The DC and Marvel syndromes!

Both Marvel and DC suffers a repeating syndrome...

DC has the cape syndrome...
Which heroes suffers the capestersyndrome?
Where the men are VERY buff, or the girls are overhot?
And they wear a cape, and are VERY unnecesarily overpowered

Men:
Superman
Martian Manhunter
Spectre
Captain Marvel
Women:
Supergirl
Powergirl

Marvel has the skilled-hand-to-hand syndrome.
Where there is so ****in many streetlevelers and nearly all of them are skilled at martial arts.

Men:
Daredevil
Wolverine
Captain America
Shang Chi
Iron Fist
Women:
Elektra

Mention some more characters for each list😉

I can think of a few other syndromes common to both camps:

1. Outside underwear (DC worse than Marvel).
2. Monikers ending in "man", "woman", etc.
3. Opera gloves and thigh-high boots for the ladies.
4. Horizontal flying position (really, not a comfy position for the human neck).

One could argue, of course, that these are just conventions of the genre.

Hi Judge.

Anyhoo . . . both companies have characters in those themes. Sometimes in excess. It happens because thats what sells.

Better for aerodynamic purposes though.

Plus if you're flying around you're probably looking for stuff on the ground 90% of the time, so no neck strain there.

What would be a comfortable position then ?

Anybody ever tried flying backwards? Or flying reclining? Just asking. srug

Powdered Toast Man flew backwards.

That's what I used to think. But then I thought, like someone like Superman is really going to be bothered by that. Someone like Hawkman...for him it would probably make a difference.

I suppose you could also say that, by being more aerodynamic, they cause less atmospheric disturbance to the environment.

Yeah, I thought that also. Still, there is aerial combat.

In any event, if we take Superman again as an example, it's not likely he's going to get neck strain.

I'm just musing. When you think about it, it's just not a common position people assume, even when we're lying down.

Street G? Guess who...

Whoa. 6 people who wear capes (5 really, Spectre's isn't a cape)? What an epidemic.

Backwards and reclining.

Oh and yes, yes I would! 😎

Technically Martian Manhunter shouldn't be in the men or women section, or should be in both ✅

Upright, like the Surfer ... 😎

Though Powergirl's position looks pretty comfy.
