"When the Plodex Ship captured Eshu it decided it wanted to learn all it could about the human race on any and every conceivable and inconceivable level imaginable. The Master went insane, fleeing the intolerable pain by plunging himself into the soft, warm womb of madness His bones were ground to paste—one bone at a time, one millimeter at a time over the course of months. His blood was intermingled with a variety of liquids to see the effects it would have on his circulatory system, such as tar. His eyelids were turned inside out, his eyes popped out of his sockets like escargots. His tongue was subjected to taste impressions across the analytical spectrum. His skin was pulled off and stretched out, sewn back on, cauterized, liquefied and forced to bear the sensation of needles pricking at its surface, fire at its core. All but his brain was not studied and became incorported being absorbed into the greater functions of the ship, becoming at first a tiny extension of the computer matrix. However, his will was strong, his sense of self indomitable, it took 30,000 but he purged himself of madness and took control of the ship. His brain came to control the unliving machines around it, and were able to comman them to reconstruct his mortal form, but a perfect form this time".

He's pre-alcohol consumption, so that must make him have the patience of a skyfather 😎

Awww yes I know what your talking about, and I think Bryne did use him as a reference for his character as well as Jules Verne, who wrote the book "Master of the World" in 1904
===
Spider-Man and Wolverine having a more tragic life? I think not.

Alpha Flight #3 (Vol.1):
The original origin story of how Eshu became the Master of the World. He tells Marrina, a member of the Plodex race the same race of beings that were responsible for his “creation”

Alpha Flight #96 (Vol.1):
Here this shows the process of the Master giving himself his body and technology an upgrade. It also shows he watches us from a distance, ruling from the shadows. Guy is uber badass, but unknown.

Yes. I read a fanfic about it. It involves Surfer, Galactus and JeanGrey 😐

Jean Grey (if multiple lives count).

Thats official enough for me. 😎

Most of the cast of X-Statix/X-Force had it pretty bad.

Ah yes, X-Force [which became X-Statix] did have it rough where most of the team got killed in their first mission [gruesome deaths] and a member of the team was responsible.

Uh-huh... not to mention the remaining people having an average lifespan of 6 issues. Venus Dee Milo went most of her life thinking she had killed her only family... U-Go-Girl had a kid who she abandoned and the child was raised to believe they were sisters... then she died. The Orphan lost his only love, had to wear a suit to exist without being in agony, and put a gun to his head every night. Dead Girl was only ever relevant as a corpse. El Guapo nearly died on the first mission, then had his legs amputated.

Etc.

Death is far less tragic than a lot of things people have to live with.

If you're referring to me... life can be pretty tragic when your teammates, friends and loved ones are dieing all around you.

Ambrose Flycatcher is up there

Personally I gotta go with X-23. Being grown as a clone and forced to kill people from around the age of 11. Being forced to kill yourself your favorite teacher and your mother and just aobut everyone you care about. Plus if you tack on the fact that she was beaten continuously for most of her life by her handler's and once she escaped weapon X she had to find work as a dominatrix prostitute.
Wolverine has it bad as well.

Eternity appears and lets millions of aliens become one with him and with each other to understand what it's like to live the life of Galactus.

This scan says it all. The watcher tells us why Galactus, out of all the beings in creation, has the most tragic life.

So to sum up, he's lost his home forever, memories of his previous life (and previous universe) remain with him, everybody (literally, billions and billions of people) hate him. And for all of galactus power, he is the only living being that is perpetually enslaved by that which keeps him alive...his hunger.

Galactus knows this, and accepts it. He's alone-

Rogue definitely comes to mind... I mean, come on. Not being able to touch anyone without hurting them/absorbing their powers?
