I don't get why they pulled that because it made the Elizabeth character look really cheap to me. And then having her kill Jack wasn't gonna win her any popularity either because he's arguably the most popular character in the series. So she looked like she was cheating on Will and killing Jack. I mean it was just a bad move for Elizabeth. They should have avoided that at all costs. And I as a Jack Sparrow fan had no interest in him ending up with her anyway.
Miz Sel&Bru, it sorta falls under that "A (wo)man's gotta do what a (wo)man's gotta do." Jack really didn't seem to mind with Barbossa or Elisabeth, actually I think Barbossa tried to kill him, Elisabeth just wanted to save the others, Will, and herself...inadvertently killing Jack--collateral damage? I'm not saying it would endear a person to me if that occurred, just saying Jack seemed to sorta take it like he named her--pirate. Me, I like tradish sorts of stories--I like the passion of the other-bethers (not Teaguebeth or Beckbeth (yucko). Wouldn't been much of a story if there weren't some twisty bends donchaknow? I sure have had a strong affinity for Jack Sparrow since I first saw PotC--course felt right fine towards Will and Elisabeth.
I can understand why Elizabeth did what she did but I still was not happy about it and I can see why Jack greeted her with an understandable coolness in AWE. I never wanted Sparrabeth but was especially uninterested after that at all costs. I didn't even like him in scenes with her. The only time I tolerate Elizabeth is with Will

no way... even from a willabeth perspective, it was one of the best things they could do cinematically. sure, it was a huge risk, but it massively paid off. that scene is like the visible coming together of all areas of film brilliance: we've got plot tension like crazy, we've got actors doing the best job they've ever done, we've got music that's just chilling, cinematography that rivals Lord of the Rings, and then immediately following we see Elizabeth and Will suddenly faced with what she has done.
it's brilliant. it removes Elizabeth from her role as ingenue and places her smack dab in the middle of a true examination of the pirate ideal and the dichotomy of morality.
and not that i follow this perspective, but most die-hard willabethers would argue this is the best proof of elizabeth's obsession with Will. She's willing to commit murder to save him.

There's a "hater" club?--the purpose of which would be to.....waste one's time "hating"--now there's a royal wonderful 😘 top useless idea I've smooth ever heard of. Miz Sel&Bru, you have presented yourself, bright, unique, learned...
IMO, waste of breath to "hate" that which is not even in the way of the world--could these limited individuals possibly be re-directed to have a clue, buy a vowel, or whatever will bring them to some understanding of how short life is and how sweet life. Sweet MaryMichael, how vile and offensive, IMO. Yucko!

So sorry Miz Sel&Bru, universal you doesn't always translate well when writing. I'm not a Pollyanna mostly--just breaks my heart when I see the people in the world around me making their lives smaller. Working with teenagers will do that to ya--
Not a waste to say what one feels, I certainly could not be accused of refraining--waste to hate--ok, sorta like I started out living my life, moving away from the things I feared rather than towards those things/people/ideas I loved. Looked like the same motivation, just the first wasn't free, I restricted myself. You have come into the world new to me, attractive because you have a good mind and grit. I'm curious about everything and everyone, my nature. Agreeing to disagree, well, yeah, I'm very adept at it based on my upbringing. Shall we have accord then?
No I mean I get what you are saying but to me it's all in good fun. It's like saying I hate bananas (which I do) it's not to knock bananas just expressing my own distaste for them. There are two sides to everything in life, hate and love. Love is more pleasant but there is I think a place for hate too that is healthy to a certain level. Like I said I am not ragging on Sparrabeth or anything in this group I just thought it was funny someone made a group for them and I joined it. That was all 😄
Here's a Willabeth conundrum. What were Elizabeth and Will planning on doing after they got married? Were they going to move into Will's hovel whilst he remained a blacksmith, or was Daddy Swann going to help them out with a pretty house and better position for Will?
Because of Elizabeth's nature, and Will's obsession with her, I always imagined that she had planned to move away from Port Royal and start a new life somewhere with her new husband.
I mean, at this point they are both still really innocent... (Jack hadn't fully corrupted them yet, lol) and idealistic. Which makes me wonder if they actually had a plan or were just going with the flow.
And how come we never got to see a proposal? Or was the final scene in COTBP supposed to be that?
Isn't that a fasinating story? Two people meet by fate, the boy falls in love, and the girl...settles...then they meet a pirate and their lives go askew, but don't worry, in the end everything goes back to normal. No one changes, no one develops. Puppy love prevails, what a wonderful story. Fills me with happiness, 😄
...
not.
