Jens Lekman - Night Falls Over Kortedala
Black Lips - Good Bad Not Evil
Dan Deacon - Spiderman of the Rings

top of 2007 in no particular order...

Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet
Tomahawk - Anonymous
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
The White Stripes - Icky Thump
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon

and thats all i can think of right now

I just discovered a 5-CD collection called Absolute Power Metal. Dear god it's hardcore, and the songs are well-picked. It;s my music of choice at the moment.

So Radiohead had a new album this year?
Forgive me, for I'm not too up-to-date with these things anymore.
But, if it's in the top for two people, I'm guessing it's worth listening to?
Same goes for Jens Lekman?

It's worth listening to if you're a Radiohead fan. In Rainbows is not close to as good as the new Jens, though, in my opinion. Beach House's Devotion just leaked, and it's incredible too.

I'm sorry. But the new radiohead album is garbage. I love their old stuff, but this new one sounds like they were lazy. I expected better.

In Rainbows by Radiohead with Anonymous by Tomahawk a close second.

People will hate Radiohead cos they're Radiohead, people will love Radiohead because they're Radiohead. Let's not overlook the fact that they make a thing called music, rate them by that alone, regardless of liking or hating.

Subjectivity is always there, but I PERSONALLY question people saying it's a garbage album, In Rainbows by Radiohead I mean.

does it involve compilation albums? 😛

1. Simon and Garfunkel - Garfunkel

3. Ben Folds Five- Whatever and Ever Amen
4. Linkin Park- Meteora
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers- Blood Sugar Sex Magik
6. U2- All that you can't leave behind
7. The Music- welcome to the north
8. System of a Down- Toxicity
9. (beeeethoven)
10. (mozarts Requiem)

The album doesn't play to the band's strengths. It's got a few good jingles, but I think it is stuck in mediocrity a lot of the time. It's their fifth best album imo.

I take your opinion of the band with a pinch of salt, considering you seem to be incapable of differentiating between sparse and minimal, but that's my opinion.

You're fond of guitar, and the guitar they use. They have good guitarists. This does not mean it's one of their strengths. The strengths is their minds, and what they create with it.

I was actually referring to the vocals.

That said, they utilize both sparse and minimalistic instrumentation. Sparse instrumentation has always been a trait of theirs, which I have never minded as I love OK Computer, but they have become increasingly minimalistic. It is a fact and even one they openly admit to.

I think In Rainbows could well be my favourite Radiohead album, since OK Computer.

I like it better than Amnesiac and Kid A, but I think I like Hail to the Thief a touch better. I'm kinda undecided on that one though... not that I feel that I actually need to choose.

On the first two listens In Rainbows strikes me as very good. Not sure where I'd place it, yet. Though I don't think I will like it as much as Kid A or OK Computer...those were just too good to be true.

Hol' on a minute just for a sec, Nelli.

Radiohead have 7 Studio Albums as of today...placing In Rainbows as their fifth best and what you just said besides that....are you saying Kid A and Amnesiac are their worst albums?

They are my least favourite by them yes. It seems to me I should listen Aphex Twin rather than Kid A. I dunno, those albums just didn't strike a chord with me at all.

Maybe listen to them until you like them or die of starvation? hmm

Just a thought.
