I am confused about the ending to evil dead 3

ok I downloaded it ages ago, and it ended with Ash at the store where he works blasting a demon and saving a hot young blonde. Last night I watched it on Sky, the ending was way different, he drank some of this potion which was meant to make him sleep or something until he arrived back at his time/year, he took to much and went too far into the future where basically everything is in ruins. So could someone tell me which is the proper ending?

The ending where he ends up in the future was the original ending. The naysayers said it was "too depressing", so Rami changed it to the S-mart ending. Personally I like the original ending, the future one. If you buy the DVD, the original ending is given as a bonus. Don't worry the "happy" ending is canon.

edit: It just processed in my head that you called the movie 'evil dead 3', this was the original title of the film, hence why it had the original ending. Download Army of Darkness if you want the S-mart ending.

When I watch it on sky it said Army of Darkness...I am just used to calling it evil dead 3

actually, the original title was The Mideval Dead. It was rejected as the studio wanted a stand alone film with a title no way correlated to The Evil Dead.

Hmm I read that the full original title was "Evil Dead III: The Medievil Dead ", Meh who cares. Anyways if it was titled "Army of Darkness" when you saw it, then it was the directors cut.

Meh, I just thought that the Future ending left more possibilities open. We could have had The Road Warrior, with demon possession, which I think would have been cool, or any other new adventure for Ash. Plus it just seemed more fitting that Ash get screwed over in the end, much like in Evil dead 1 & 2.

But Army of Darkness as a whole was very different from the first two movies. Different setting, more comedy, less horror, and Ash grows from being a coward to being a hero. So the movie was different enough to welcome a different ending, Ash just kicking ass to finish the fun installment.

So, was the new ending an alternate ending or is it counted as the actually ending the one in the future is the alternate ending? Was the ending changed whilst the movie was out in theatre's or was it changed when it came ot on VHS/DVD?

No, like I said

S-mart ending= “actual” and canon ending
future ending= "alternate ending", non-canon

The ending was changed before the movie hit theatres. The "alternate ending" was available to watch on the DVD’s special features. The "Directors cut" of the whole movie, with "alternate ending" intact, can also be found. Still confused?

Kinda, I would've thought sky would show the actual ending and not the alternate ending. But I get which is te real anding and which isn't the real ending which is the future ending.

Sky shows both endings as i watch Army Of Darkness most times it comes on and i have nothing better to do it still makes me laugh to this day.

Hmmm I guess I caught it when it was showing the alternate ending then

I'm pretty sure is shows the canon ending first then after the credits it shows the future one that's how i remember it everytime i've seen it. 🙂

The ending to AOD is Ash battling the deadite in S-Mart.......Hail to the king baby. That's it.

On the dvd, the alternate ending is available just as deleted scenes and alternate takes are on most dvds.

If you bought the Official Bootleg Edition dvd, it has the alternate ending and also several changed scenes. Nothing big...all minor except the ending.

In neither version is there anything after the credits. Either you watch the regular theatrical release AOD or the Bootleg Edition with the alternate ending. That's it.

It's defintely got both on SKY TV service here in the UK because i don't even own it on DVD and it shows both endings.

when I saw the alternate ending it was before the credits, when I downloaded it I got the proper ending

Thats weird i've got the dvd but yet i have'nt seen the alternate ending on it in the special features

Download Army of Darkness if you want the S-mart ending.
