Spectacular Spiderman: New Animated TV Show

i am sorry to say but this is already on par with Batman TAS, could easily surpass it if we get a repeat season as good as the first.

Eh, no, it's not as good as Batman: TAS, everyone should know that. It won't be better than B: TAS, ever. Nothing anyone can say will ever change that.

No your wrong, i think most of the people who watch the show would agree it is on par with Batman TAS and i think it will surpass it with ease, yeah absolute ease.

Okay now that the Spectacular Spider-Man is near an end here are my thoughts on the show as a whole.

In one word the show is amazing I have not seen a show this exciting since Batman TAS and Spider-Man 90s TAS. In addition every week I have not been so hyped for a single episode of a show since Heroes. As a long time Spider-Man comic reader I really have liked what they have done with the show, props first of all has to go to the voice acting, Josh Keaton is the definitive voice for Peter Parker/Spider-Man just like Kevin Conroy is the voice of Batman to me, now when I read the comics I hear JK`s voice for Parker/Spidey. As for the rest of the cast spot on in particular I liked Alan Rachins as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, Robert Englund as The Vulture and finally Peter MacNicol as Doc Ock. I can also see as a long time reader of the comics that they have basically condensed the major sagas or events in the comics into one season such as the introduction of the classic villains, the Sinister Six, the introduction of MJ and of course the Symbiote Saga. This have done this really well with little tweaks here and there. The idea of the stories interweaving is very good and some of the twists have been great such as Harry as the first Goblin and not Norman like in the comics. I also love the homages they pay to the movies as well as the comics this is very pleasing as I am a huge fan of both the comics and movies. Also I think in this series we see definite Spider-Man it all comes together very nicely, in the movies Spidey`s humor was sadly missing and in the 90s TAS the emphasis was more on the cross overs of heroes as opposed to the effect of what Spidey had on Pete`s college life but these elements are perfectly shown in the series. As for the villains I think they are great, its good to see Sandman on screen as the two bid thug he is, Green Goblin is ooozing with menace and evil as he is supposed to be and Venom is looking set to add to the cast already well portrayed villains. But my fav villain of the lot has to go to Doc Ock. I know people were admin at his design but I thought it was good as he represents kind of what Pete was like before he got bit by the Spider, shy and not very confident. But as soon as the accident happens he transforms and he has great power and intellect just like Pete but chooses to use it for evil ends and not good the polar opposite of what Pete did after his accident. And he appears to have the arrogance like Ock had in the early comics and seems like the man who lead the Sinister Six.

So all in all I loved the show its deft my fav modern day cartoon, it does not beat Batman TAS imo but still its very good it gets a good 9/10 from me, roll on Season 2.

it has done well, i like everything about the film.

*the show rather.

I'll be truthful, this show is going to come the closest to surpassing Batman: TAS, but more than likely it won't. Batman: TAS had a bunch of good stories and there weren't truly any boring stories. There was acting, superb animation, and great voice actors. It's cool to have opinions, but to say this series with surpass B:TAS with ease is a stupid thing to say.

I agree with both of you on certain points.

To say that this series will surpass B:TAS with ease is a bit of a stretch, especially after only one season. B:TAS is still the King and will continue to be so until another series with the same calibre of quality can also maintain it over a similar quantity of episodes. To say they're on par...we'll see after next season starts airing.

That being said, it definitely has the potential to topple B:TAS from it's throne high atop the mountain of comic book animation. To say that it could never top B:TAS is just close-minded; the show has had excellent writing, great animation (though i personally don't like all the lines on the arms) and a number of highly creative and interesting takes on old characters. Not to mention a fair few twists and turns to keep even long time fans of the spidey comics guessing.

Only time will tell I suppose

agreed.

There's one thing I think everything can agree on: the writing in this show is nothing short of superb. Peter's character is captured perfectly.

This is the best animated Peter Parker that we've gotten yet. I'm going to love seeing him mature as Spider-Man and as a person overall.

Anyone here hoping they don't kill off Gwen Stacy?

I truly hope that Gwen Stacy doesn't die.

I want her to live through all of the seasons. 😄

It'd be nice to see Pete stick with her and not end up with MJ for a change. I mean, it could happen, seeing as we got Harry as the first GG.

Yeah, that's true.

Anyway, what do you think are the chances of Carnage making an appearance in this cartoon?

Honestly, I feel that they are slim but I want him to appear and have as large a role as Brock. But, before Kassidy even becomes Carnage, I'd want his character to be as developed as all of the other villains.

Well, they'll have to find a way to dumb Carnage down since he's a violent character.

It's possible, though.

He can be dumbed down but like Brock, he stills needs to be a pretty dark character.

I know, but it makes me wonder how the storyboard writers will do it.

mmm Also, I wonder how he'll look...

He could look the same as in the comics. Why would that change? 131

Either way it goes, Venom is more important so I'm just glad we're getting him and it seems like he'll be more of a major villain in this series.

Since some of the villains look different from their comic book appearances, Carnage might look different, too. Just look at Electro's design.

😎 Of course.
