I asked the same thing like two pages ago. apparently the best answer is that the Geoff Johns just doesn't care enough to address it. I mean, I wouldn't mind at all a one sentence blurb about Yat is using the GL ring to block the lead in the atmosphere.

I mean, Mon-El started dying almost instantly upon being on Earth.

GJ: Sodam Yat will certainly try. He's pretty powerful. He's a Daxamite and a Green Lantern, so he's got all the power of a Kryptonian and a Green Lantern ring. So he's going to do his damnedest.
