different writers [bendis in particular] tend to ignore the continuity of other titles when writing their stories. currently, we don't know whether or not this is his **** up, or this is supposed to be happening prior to astonishing, or if some clearing up will occur later. it's entirely possible that either agent brand [in astonishing or secret invasion] is an lmd, or both are. no real way of knowing at this point.

Astonishing X-Men already occurred pre-Messiah Complex. Somewhere between the pages of X-Men #206. Brand didn't die in AXM #24 either. Secret Invasion occurs during Divided we stand where the X-Men have relocated to San Francisco since the Initiative like forgot that area and everything.

What do you mean the Initiative forgot that area? The Order is based out of SF.
