Magma vs. Iron Man

Don't forget that Magma stood up to Warlocke's father Magus for long enough to let the New Mutants get their shot at him.
I think a fight like that proves the power and skills that mutants really have. Even in Seceret Wars(the original) the mutants were the piviotal factor in the battles.

Just like Stark runs a billion doller business...Magma ran a society with Empath near her to enjoy her glory.
She's no slouch...Stark is just a better fighter though.
