I still don't understand how the quality of an RP reflects success of the RP that did not die and concluded as the host intended.
Irrelevant statistics. The finishing of a story ain't the equivalent of a story having been good, or a RP having been sucessful.
Most RP's here have died due to bad hosting or lack of continuous attracting interest. So it does require some edge to possess over the RPer's interest. I have completed two and a half RPs and concluded them as intended. So this is from personal experience.
Here are other RP's that fall under the example:
Judgement of Celestial
Hero High RPG
Teen Titans RP
Ultimate Hero
And I am very sure I am missing a few. Point is one of them did not have a real plot, but a setting and a motivation given to the RPer that actually caused the RP to live past thousands of pages (The most pages an RP has ever survived). And the it was very popular due to the popularity of the tv show.
But it really, really depends on the RP. (If it is an RP with a plot or just it's name, purpose, or concept to speak for itself)

Or myabe it's that fact that it has no structure and host at the same time, living up to the name of an "unhosted RP".
A majority of the RPs here die because people either have the attention span of a goldfish with dementia, or are just plain incapable of contributing on a lasting level.

It is not the hosting of a RP that make it not last. If it was, several here on KMC would still be going. No, there is no way around it. It is the rest of the players that **** up.
