Cloverfield

cloverfield was pretty much my favorite film of 2008. 🙂

i love shaky-cam and i like the ambiguity of the monster as well as the "tragic end".

Shaky cam movies can be very hit or miss.

The method can be an extraordinarily effective way of increasing the plausibility of what you're seeing. Other times, if done well, it can be self defeating. Can simply get too distracting.

IM - [REC] is fine for the camera movement. If you are like me and easily affected by motion sickness like in Cloverfield, [REC] will be simple to get through. I got through it without feeling ill at all.

Please watch the original Spanish film first and not the remake.

The original is fantastic. There is a sequel too.

Well J.J. is working on the second season of a fantastic show called Fringe airing thursdays(i hate the move though).. also he working bit by bit on the Star Trek sequel and I believe he has something else as well, but he will make the Cloverfield sequel eventually

Apparently he has about 12 projects over the next few years(various roles, not all directing obviously). Not one is Cloverfield II. And the actual director of Cloverfield Matt Reeves has the Let The Right One In film remake to make.

Cloverfield was amazing.

They couldn't simply remove the shaky cam aspect and have it otherwise be the same. The shaky cam cinematography was integral to how the story was told. If they took out that aspect, it'd be a completely different movie, because they'd have to literally rewrite the film. That was my original point.

I think I remember reading somewhere that the monster destroying the city in Cloverfield was just a baby. I really want to see whatever the hell spat that out.
