Well f*ck.Why dont they just call it a multiverse and be done with it !
ie. Hypertime is what makes titles such as Elseworlds, DCAU, All-Star, Tangent, etc. all part of the "greater whole"..... Instead of completely separate entities, as they were before Hypertime was introduced.
And fyi,
More then one Multiverse makes up Hypertime these days.

He was called the keeper of the divergent timelines though.
Fairly similar.
Especailly in the point of Hypertime still being acknowledged, however small.
Yeah it was a very brief mentioning, but still enough for us to conclusively say that H-Time has not been retconned.
Part of the difference I notice, is that what Marvel calls a Multiverse, DC calls alternate timelines. DC's single universe, had infinite timelines. [Marvel considers it's alternate timelines as actual seperate or divergent universes, such as Age of Apocalypse, House of M, Days of Future Past and various others it's written about]. DC how has 52 "Universes". Which by my estimation, would equivelent to Marvel's Megaverses, since a single one has infinite timelines equivelent to universes.
I believe in 52, Rip Hunter said we'd soon see the birth of the Megaverse in DC. Which would be something even greater.

Thats not actually the case. They've also had a kid in Frank Millers the Dark Knight Strikes again.
Hyper time works in the same way as the many worlds work in quantum mechanics (If you know anything about that). Basically an new universe emerges for every two way choice ever postulated by a person.
