any team which intends to win trophies for any length of time quickly learns to optimize
Defense,

High Spirits in the Locker room to keep the team together

This requires Effort
in some cases 1 man/woman alone make the team/community work

Even in your example is personal gain the driving force. Just a more reasonable approach to it.

I swear, reading that article makes me want to cry. What the **** is wrong with people nowadays? The neglected their kid for ****ing dungeons and dragons? Are you kidding me. How the **** do you do that, seeing your child suffer, covered in filth and starving without doing something?

yesterday I was at a venue. The hall was almost full.
seating was *sit where you like* like in a cinema.
a lady was sitting with her child on the space to her left and her pram against the seat to the right

to the right: 1 girl in the aisle seat and 4 places *tagged* with bags jackets and stuff

when like 20 people [including me] walked in things started getting messy the pram was blocking the path between the rows of seats [regulations require children to stay in prams] and the taggers hadn't shown up.

The ushers hands are tied in this matter. they cannot touch private property [someone could sue like where's my 2million carat rolex I left in my wallet or something]

The woman was made to wheel her pram with child into the aile and either stay there or leave her child there and return to her seat.

Around that time I left disgusted.
of course I could have said "ladies why don't you change places" if it wasn't for the fact that the woman waiting for her friends was in ignore mode.

The lady at the beginning of the aisle [who was pretending not to know or have anything to do with the marked seats] should have at least offered the mother the aile seat

a society or economy which values money statistics and regulations above people relationships and ethics will produce all kinds of Tragedies daily

A society that ignores rules in order to make people feel better will fall faster then any other and be one great tragedy.

depends if you instill the values on the young they'll grow up as leaders each and every one bar a creep or two.

a society of leaders has little use for regulation as they have the discipline and direction not to mention the capacity to do so individually & collectively

a great example is ANCIENT GREECE.

govt was decentralised the people were of strong mind and spirit and enterprising they produced many visionaries

Plato and Aristotle to name a few.

the economy was vibrant
they had strong values and practiced them

Fishy shall henceforth be known as my spokesman.

And they still had laws and rules and people to make sure those laws and rules were executed. You don't need a centralized government in order to have rules. You need government (or a strong powerful leader) that makes rules and laws and people that force others to follow those rules otherwise government will fail and with that the society it governs.

Lets just say that there are countries on Earth where The Governments have positive bank balances in the billion mark region
no children go hungry
and people live long fullfilled lives
crime is hard to find
and the people practice the old ways drawing daily on the experience of the Ancients from dawn till dusk in modern times

I shall say no more.

Is there abortion? Open homosexuality? Incest? What's the age of consent? Blacks and whites all integrated. Who leads the country?

Incest.
