IMO Prince 08 was even worse, I couldn't stand to even finish the game. Needs more silent protagonist.
What the hell is with the obsession with a silent protagonist?

not to add to the pseudo-philosophical mental masturbation that you guys seem to enjoy doing so much but... if a world existed where no badness existed then technically wouldnt there be no good either as good is just a comparison to bad and vice versa? ๐Ÿ˜

a lot of people prefer silent protagonists because you the player dont have to deal with a personality that you dont like... he feels and thinks the way you do most of the time.

Yes it is, but that would just make the term good invalid, and has no real relevance to the point at hand.

Which I cannot even really remember anymore.

I've gone into that. That would be if the world started without evil then you couldn't define good. But its still there anyway, there just is no need to define it.

alrighty then ๐Ÿ˜‚

Evil and good are human fabrications, don't act like they have always existed. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I find silent protagonists bland for the very reason they don't have a personality, sure sometimes a characters personality can be annoying or obnoxious but I'd rather have that then a blank emotionless robot ala Master Chief, makes it rather hard to connect to a character when they don't do anything other then kill, kill, kill oh and....kill without even the slightest hint of it affected them in someway.

Silent characters make videogames feel dull if you ask me.

There must be a point in that somewhere.

You said when the world started, the world predates humanity by a good few billion years.

You're confusing free will with omnipotence.

Merriam Webter says you are wrong.

Nah.

Freedom to *do as you will*, is what was described earlier in this thread, free will is choosing what it is that you will. Human's can't do it.

evil and good are just abstract terms invented by us. There is no true good or evil in real life. I think the crusades displayed that.

This isn't an argument.

I provided an official source giving the definition of free will.

I could not care less about your own interpretation.

There should be a movie or something based on the Judas Priest song Leather Rebel.

Random thought is random.

I don't think it would effect me or anyone else for that matter killing creatures from different planets that threatens the entire universe.

Silent protagonist =/= Blank Emotionless (apparent lack of personality)

We've had some good silent protagonists before. Though for me, Gordon Freeman and Jak (from PCL) are the only ones that come to mind right now.

Jak is probably one of my favorite silent protagonists, even though he never spoke, he clearly had a personality and was a badass. Shit, even after he began speaking he was still a badass.

Naughty Dog needs to make a next gen Jak. they are pulling a Crash Bandicoot and handing it off to some third party crap

Jak was a badass? It must have been specifically in Jak 2, because he sucked ass in 1 and 3.
