Do it. I got lucky when I was just harvesting charmanders for the GTS. I'm literally trading them for anything I don't have just because I want to help fill up my dex. They say the chances are a little better if the Ditto is from Japan, though I don't really know.

I might use that guide on Gen 4's random number generator. 😎 It's sort of a lot of work, but marginally less than breeding the average of I think it's 8000+ Charmanders to get a shiny >_>
