Each game being a stand alone universe doesn't explain their connections.

What connections? Specifically what happened in the twilight princess that made it seem like this occurred before or after any other particular zelda game.

The intro to Wind Waker references Ocarina of Time. And Twilight Princess references Ocarina of Time.

Ganon knows things and speaks of being defeated previously by the chosen hero.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I know there are a lot more connections than just those.

When does twilight mention ocarina of time?

The Gorons protect the hero's weapon by keeping it locked away in their mines. The Light Spirits tell Link he is another of the heroes chosen by the goddesses. The shade that teaches Link the hidden techniques says they are the techniques passed down the line of those heroes.

More than those, as well.

To me that just means a lot has occurred prior to Links' coming out party. There might have been another threat in this reality other than Ganondorf they are vague but we see how the mages first stop Ganondorf.

Things have went down here prior to Link and Ganondrof but it's all shrouded in mystery and never really proof it follows another game or precedes another game.

They also speak of him being wounded under his belly in a previous battle but to me it's just off another vague comment and no actual proof this is following any previous timeline. But like I said I never played ocarina of time.

It means things of Zelda storyline nature have happened before the games themselves. Most of these speak of Ganon as a "Great Evil power" or whatever and later it's confirmed that Ganon is that Great Evil. I think this is a pretty big obstacle as far as each game being it's own universe is concerned.

Heavy implications. Each hero chosen by the gods wears that same green tunic, the Triforce of Courage connects most of them, too. And the Master Sword.

Ganondorf's belly wound happened while the Sages were attempting to execute him for his crimes.

You should give OoT a playthrough. Fantastic game is fantastic.

I think in each universe it's link as the hero and each villain as ganondor/ganonf as the great evil.

I think each creator takes things from previous zelda games and does whatever they want with their story and if they decide to continue it they do but if they decide to be just create their own with similar concepts they do.

Oh yeah, when he had the sword in him. That's why he was shocked when he was killed later against Link.

Can I play it on the wii?

Yes.

Some GameStops should still have copies of the remake that they did on the GameCube, which would also include the Master Quest edition. And it's available for download on the Virtual Console for the equivalent of ten dollars.

I hear that might be the best one ever according to my buddy. I'll need a gamecube controller, right?

Isn't the next zelda going to be a direct continuation of twilight princess?

For the GameCube edition, yes. But if you get it on the VC I think it works with the classic controller that connects to the Wiimote.

Nobody knows. I really hope not.

Quick question. I just recently beat twilight princess after a long hiatus from the video game universe and I want to hear some opinions of gamers here. Is each zelda story that isn't a direct continuation of the previous one set in it's own reality. It seems like the creators have leeway to just do whatever they want from hyrule and that each link, hyrule, ganondorf, etc. are all self contained?

The most popular belief is the "Split Timeline" theory, but there are several impossible-to-overlook flaws with this theory or any other timeline theory. The only way to view the Zeldaverse without running into massive contridictions is to view them all as a contained universes. Here is the breakdown:

(OoT, MM) (WW, PH) (FS, FSA) (Oracles, etc... You get the picture.)

With this outlook, the most powerful Zeldaverses are the LttP and OoT.
You can thank The Wind Waker for ****ing up the Zelda timeline and lore all to hell.

Do you ever post in this forum at all? GK = General Kaliero = the other VG mod and a well-known Zelda fan who has researched the hell out of this. I think only Ush has done about equal research into the timeline theories of Zelda. The reason he was posting from my account was because he's sitting next to me and I'm too damn lazy to log out.

And I'm curious as to how a game can screw up the timeline and lore when it's the games that CREATE the timelines and lore...

Actually, the timeline was fine until Twilight Princess came along. So, **** that game.

WW butchered it hard. No Sacred Realm/Chamber of Sages, no sealing of the hero, no hero appeared when Ganondorf came back but yet someone was able to move the Master Sword from the Temple of Time without the keys and put it under the castle, etc. The list is eternal.

GK says:

It clarified a mistake, you silly muffin.

Since the timeline was always split by OoT, TP made it clear that Ganondorf was caught in the past, before he could steal the Triforce, thus dispelling the idiot fan theory that sending Link back served no purpose because Ganondorf would open the Door somehow anyway. He was captured, sentenced, killed, and cast into the Twilight Realm.

And since that was the case in the past, it proved that WW came after the Linkless future ending of OoT, instead of the other idiot fan theory that Link never made it back from Termina after MM, and that was the disappearance of the Hero spoken of in WW's opening.

It screwed nothing up; it actually tied up a loose end in the series.

I still hate TP. >_>

No taste.

Not my favorite, either. Butchers the story up a little bit, too. OoT is where it's at.

Was I talking to you Spinda? No, so shut up.
