PC Gamer gave it a 30% rating, reviewer Tom Senior writing that "the kindest thing that can be said about the Final Fantasy MMO is that it has a good intro movie".

Squeenix recently extended the free trial period by a month, trying to reassure players that their complaints will be taken into account in changing and improving elements of the game. Essentially everyone is unimpressed and not expecting much. The very core of the gameplay is what is flawed.

You're thinking of Square. Square Enix floods the market with FFs. Remember the whole FFVII universe thing a while back?

Now they're releasing FFXIII, FFXIV Online, FF Agito XIII, and FF Versus XIII in close proximity.

haven't played XIV yet, don't want to. I never really got into mmos much. And im too cheap to pay for memberships. I played XI on my friend account once. It was ok, but I doubt I'll ever play it again.

Basically, despite getting numbers like they are in the main series, the MMOs are on a completely different development schedule and teams, so they bear no real relation to the release of the other games.

It'd be better for logic if they were not numbered as man series entries- though worse for sales.

I'm just always amused that so many FFXIV reviews end with "Well, GW2 is coming out fairly soon" 😛
