Talk about a smack to the face.
I don't know, perhaps Sony did the right gamble since Microsoft seems to go along with their 10+ years life cycle idea.
I mean I can see the use for console makers, but it seemed like Microsoft could have destroyed the PlayStation, if they were able to create a new better console with Sony having nothing on the horizon.
I just wonder what Nintendo is going to do, whether they will bring a new console sooner, or just play along with the others, I imagine their niche (if you can call the biggest market that) lets them age much better than the PlayStation or Xbox.

Agreed with most of what's been said about Bane.

I thought Bane was a plant-man created by Poison Ivy or whatever. So he's his own dude?
To the rest of the discussion, look what Nolan did with Ra's al Ghul and the Joker. They were different, yes, but faithful to the core elements of their respective characters. I really do have faith that Nolan can make Bane awesome, strong, and intelligent while keeping to the realism of his Batman universe.
Oh, and Daniel Floyd, James Portnow, and Allison Theus' Extra Credits series on The Escapist is an exceptionally good watch. Intelligent, funny, and frank.

Am not sure I feel I'm ready to buy another system anytime soon anyway, so Kinect being the "X-Box 720" makes little difference to me.
The thing is we don't need pure polygon-pushing power anymore. Game graphics have reached a plateau on one side of the uncanny valley, and now that we have normal mapping and parallax mapping what we want is detailed maps on low-poly models, which is far less processor-intensive. Until we manage real-time lighting and shading technology that truthfully simulates skin, games and their characters are not going to look any more real.
The simple fact is that if graphical power is the driving force behind a new console, we just don't need new consoles right now. Thus, we get peripherals that add other elements to the core base, like Kinect and Move.

Why do my likes and dislikes have an effect on your sanity?
And yeah, criticized was the wrong word. I probably should have said something more like "looked down upon" instead. But still, Bane? How known is he outside of comic fans? I know he was in Lego Batman and that one Batman movie, but still.

I wanna know if Nolan's going to use Venom with Bane. Nolan's Batman movies are much more realistic than traditional, so I don't know if a super-drug that beefs up a dude is going to fit into that. And I mean he had Ra's al Ghul without the lazarus pit, so y'know.Though Bane from the comics isn't just a strong guy, believe me. He's probably as smart as Bats in fact. I trust Nolan'll learn from those shitty Schumacher movies and have him as a credible threat outside of the arena.
Seeing Bane 'hulk out' thanks to Venom on screen would be rather strange in Nolanverse I admit. It'd be better if Nolan just keeps him at a fixed level as far as strength goes, and a foe that Bruce initially underestimates. That said, I hope most of the core elements of the character remain the same. And I really hope Bane gets to break Bruce in some way, be it physically, or emotionally.

Also, let's not forget that Nolan's Scarecrow still had his psychoactive "fear gas." Venom as some sort of aggressive stimulant/steroid would not be too unbelievable.

He's my favourite villain, but you are right that he is not known to the general populace. He is however known to geekdom usually, even if they do not read comics as he was the main villain behind what is a quintessential Batman story, that is "Knightfall" in which he broke Batman's spine...it's Batman's "The Death of Superman".
Anyways, in my mind Talia's involvement points at Nolan using some of Legacy (which I thought he definitely should do) which should be rather interesting, as it is one of the better Bane stories, too, showing his intelligence in an even more threatening light. However, being low on one "Ra's" makes for a complicated rewrite.
Also, Tom Hardy being cast as Bane, makes it seem me hope that he won't be too Hulky.
