It's not so much Batman but his fans. Before Dark Knight, I had always believed that Batman was the most overrated and overwanked hero ever. After Dark Knight, I ventured into the realm of somewhat liking Batman, until the pretentiousness of his fans kicked me out of their private club. They've even managed to lower the quality of Dark Knight for me, which is sad.

It's hard to come off as being a "more ruthless" alternative to a "boy scout" like Superman, when someone whom has no political protection, or any superpowers making him excessively difficult to kill (Most of the time, Joker has survived allegedly lethal circumstances), when you continually just send a mass-murdering clown who has no intention of stopping back to Arkham Asylum, the archetypical Cardboard Prison.

There is no excuse for the Joker still being alive. Not one person would moarn his death.

Shit, even Superman uses lethal force against ****ers like Darkseid.

Uh, wow. Sadly, I understand your stance completely, and I've mostly always liked Batman too (not so much Bruce himself, but the characters, settings, villains, etc. in his series). He was one of the most original superheroes ever for the time he was first made by Bob Kane, but now with how controversial he's gotten with the whole "no killing" policy when it comes to even the likes of Joker and what not, it just leaves a weird taste in one's mouth. Not to mention, he's a hypocrite in the movie Batman Begins for leaving Ra's al Ghul to die in the exploding train when he had said earlier in the film that "no one is beyond saving" or something along the lines of that.

Thankfully though, I haven't seen Batman too overrated on this site hardly. At least, compared to what you described.
