Hm I would agree, was that the boss who could drain you of a level or something if he got you with that move? I think he required me to be on top form, some of the bosses I could sort of relax with like the monk and the storm king but Old king allant and on later difficulties flame lurker could be a problem. I thought maneater was nasty as well, one was enough for me ๐I used the fire attack w/e it was called a lot so being a bit of a sorceror the faster enemies with good long range attacks or an ability to get close fast were the most dangerous, I often combined the "shield spell" you get from Tower knights soul combined with some fiery death to bring down enemies so those weak to fire were easiest.
Yeah, see, my build was good for taking down big bosses that I could deliver punishment on using the Dragon Bone Smasher or Northern Regalia on, but Old King Allant, Flamelurker, and Maneater are all lightning bruiser type bosses, hit really hard, but also really fast, whereas I was slow. Maneater during my first playthrough was not that bad, mostly because I killed the shit out of the first one before the second one made it to me, but I was unable to do that on NG+ so had to use taktikz. Flamelurker I am sorta proud of myself for. I was an incredible boss and accidently used the Dragon Longsword, which does fire damage, against him the first time, and won. 131 Second playthrough he was harder though. And Old King Allant is liek egftsdgs. And yeah, he drained you of a soul level with a grab. But beyond that, he was fast as hell, had high defense, hit really hard, had multiple long range, fast attacks, and had an AOE attack that took 1/3 of the large area you fought him in. I had to change equipment to beat him the first time. Second time used Ancient King's Armour. 131 Was still tough though. Penetrator can be mildly hard if you are slow as well, actually. Less-so if you fight him with Biorr, because Biorr is nothing to **** with.
I always carried Black Turpentine with me for bosses weak to fire like the Leechmonger. Though oddly enough, the Valley of Defilement, despite being arguably the most annoying level, had possibly the easiest bosses.
