Woohoo, official off-topic thread!

I liked the art style and action of the older Clone Wars series, not least of all because my favorite Jedi held her own against Grievous and his MagnaGuards in it.

However, the newer series is unbelievably good, very serious, thoughtful, and mature if you give it a chance. It's done a wondrous job of fixing Anakin's character whiplash between AotC and RotS.

And it's actually a step above the rest of things as canon goes, since Lucas is personally involved in production, beyond his general yea/nay role in most of the EU. For instance, one storyline included a Mandalorian dueling Obi-Wan with a cortosis vibrosword. Lucas shut that down immediately because nothing solid is supposed to be able to block a lightsaber. So it was changed to a new ancient Sith "darksaber" and added a bit of interesting mythos to the whole thing.

And really, Anakin and Dooku dueling through the series is no big deal. Their lines in RotS don't need to be referring to AotC, as both are rather prone to pre-duel posturing.

Ah, the aesthetic. That makes sense.

That's why I specified art style and not just artwork ๐Ÿ˜›

I still think the "darksaber" is one of the stupidest things ever. And you know I gave the series plenty of chances, and I rarely did I see the thoughtful maturity from it you said exists ๐Ÿ˜›

I prefer Star Wars because I'm a fan, but Jack was quality stuff.

YouTube video

One of the best animated fights ever imo.

๐Ÿ‘†

Samurai Jack was bawss. Think my favourite fights were Jack vs. those Three minions of Set, Jack vs. Ninja (Light vs. Shadow) and Jack vs. Badass Time Portal Guardian.

Plus that fight against Human Aku was cool and hilarious.

The ninja fight was very stylistic and neat I guess. But I never much cared for it for some reason. Wasn't memorable to me.

My favorite fight was when he took on that 7 or 8 robots with a big robot arm and took the last one on solo. Glow sword was glowing. Among other episodes.

It also doesn't make sense how Padme is still employed or even alive by the time of ROTS. As someone pointed out she pretty much committed treason by releasing Grievous, without any democratic process involved. She even says that with Grievous captured they could possibly end the war. So she values Anakins life over ending the war. Man she sucks.

How did she get in charge of Grievous? o.O

Gungans beat the shit out of him and he got captured.

But wouldn't that mean the very competent Gungans would be in charge of Grievous and not that human scum?

Or a nearby Jedi?

Shes the senator of Naboo, and the Gungans captured him on Naboo. So in retaliation Dooku captured Anakin and they traded.

Its complete bullshit. She should be in prison.

'Tis a good question, really. Hell, you think maybe she "neglected" to report on Grievous' capture because she knew the consequences?

But if the Gungans did it, why aren't they in charge of Grievous?

Dooku: "Surrender Grievous or we'll kill Skywalker."
Gungan Badass King: "The ****sa do wesa care?"

The Gungans are part of Naboo society now. She has authority over them.

Plus the trade was Jar Jar's idea in the first place.

I dunno. Isn't she really big on democracy and the law and sunshine and sweetness and stuff?

Jar Jar was pretending to be the Boss > Jar Jar and Padme are fellow senators and good friends > Jar Jar cares about Padme's interests.

She says she is, but... seriously, she fell in love with Anakin. I doubt she's quite all there, y'know?

The ****! I thought at the end of the first film that they became allies and shit. Why does some human get to have say over something that Gungans did? That's stupid.

.....*sigh*....

You know, I like the Gungans. They are the only ones who have actively tried to kill Jar Jar on multiple occasions. And this just reinforces why that's a smart thing to do.

Ehhh. Hostage trades happen all the time in a war.

Wow, I don't remember Grievous' voice sounding that stupid back when that episode first aired, lol.

Hmm....which of the Terminator movies is the best?

Anakins just a Jedi. Padme points out that with Grievous captured they could end the war.

Plus she doesn't get senate backing for it. She makes this call that determines the fate of trillions with only a few words of encouragement from Jar Jar.

Do you even need to ask? The second, theres no contest.

I believe the 1st had better reviews than 2. And I can see it. But 1 and 2 are actually very different kinds of movies. So, idk.

Probably the second.
