Well no. Its amazing that they would go so far as to **** with the goddamn department of justice. But pretty much their entire schtick is 'piss us off and we'll **** with you over the interwebs.'
My favourite bit is when a guy appeared on the news arguing against the Westboro Baptist Church, got pissed off with them and shut down their website while on air. Thats pretty cool.

Of course.But, two wrongs don't make a right. ๐ฎ
No but when someone hits back, it makes a bully think twice next time.
At this point the US is acting no more better than a bully. They are not world police. They just do not have the jurisdiction. Just Imagine if Megavideo was owned by someone from China or Russia, can you imagine the reaction then?
I hate to say it for most of you, but your country sure is becoming Pro at digging....

Not if the bully is really big. ๐ฎ
Yep. Why we can't just let the governments duke it out is beyond me.
If it wants to dig, let it. The government's big enough to take care of itself without my worrying about it. ๐

They really dropped the SOPA with this one, didn't they?

Well, the websites for the White House and the DoJ appear to be up right now, just loading really, really slowly. Chances are likely all they did was DDoS them, not actually hacking them or anything.
And honestly..."two wrongs don't make a right" is a bit simplistic and naive and doesn't fit all situations. Especially in a country where displeasure with the government is allowed to be freely expressed. They're not all-powerful and nor should they be.

Megaupload and Megavideo are not US-based websites, they are based in Hong Kong if I remember correctly. The most that legally should have happened was US servers taken offline; nothing more.

Displeasure is one thing. If I ate a bad meal, I'd be within my rights to complain. But if I threw it in the cooks face, I'd probably deserve the subsequent ass kicking. Not the best analogy. I'm sleepy and have other things to do.
No, it's a terrible analogy, because you're comparing disliking something with acting out in reaction to a highly illegal act.

It doesn't matter how big the bully is. Not fighting back is cowardly. For a country founded on freedom from tyranny they are pretty quick to assume authority wherever they please.

That was my point. What I meant to refer to was they are arresting and putting on trail non-US citizens. Not that long ago they arrested someone from the UK.

Not the best... no kidding ^^' It's nothing like what you're comparing it to =p

I'd say it's more like, if you punch me, be prepared to get hit back.
The most galling thing is that this happened the day after the SOPA/PIPA protests, when all eyes are on the government and pressuring them to drop the whole anti-piracy thing. So what do they do? Pretty much go "haha **** you we'll do as we please".
Did they seriously think that there'd be no backlash against this?

Which is where we disagree. And the American Revolution was never about that. It was all just one big tax revolt that you losers failed to stop. vin
I like my second one more.

Such violence. ^^
Neat, people are stupid.
I honestly didn't know about it until the backlash.
