I can understand where he's coming from, and think he actually makes a rather valid point. More than anything, though, I'm glad he admits that he's not out to piss off fans of the movie. Keeps him from seeming overly stuck-up, though he clearly feels he has a better sense of what makes a great film.
He does insult the fans lol. I'm not a fan of any of these guys in particular, I watched the movie, and I enjoyed it. They really weren't playing on my fanservice anymore than say the Dark Knight was. But when you say things like "I'm not wrong" then you are going to come off as a complete prick. That said, this strikes me as a review he made while in a bad mood.

I don't think he makes a single valid point. He's just 8eing a sno8 and going on a8out 'sophistic8ed storytelling' without defining what that is. I personally see Avengers as 8eing very skillfully told. No-one writes teams like Whedon does.And even then, a film is no lesser for 8eing focused on pure enjoyment over 'sophistic8ion.'
Frankly, it's 'reviews' like th8t which m8ke me question why I'm still w8tching that l8ttle p8ss8nt!!!!!!!! >::::C
Well he does mention the Dark Knight as a good example and if I had to guess he has probably heard people say it was better than the Dark Knight, so yeah rage and stuff.
It is better than the Dark Knight though so meh.
