The only thing I remember having any trouble with remember were adjective endings, as those depended on case, tense, gender, so there was something like a half-dozen possible ones and I couldn't remember the gender of nouns half the time since we don't bother with that in English. Some of the simple past tense forms of verbs were a bit weird, too, but that was easy to cheat with. But otherwise I found it very easy to learn.
I also found that learning German made my understanding of English grammar a lot better, too.
