Understandable logic. Too bad the Rival's name is Green in Japan. In America it fits(though even then Red is portrayed as having chosen Bulbasaur in the manual).

Quality anime lol. How do you know it's good? Exactly.

But it is different. So just for that it is worth a watch.

Compared to the current running anime? Wouldn't take much..

The quality of the animation is higher than the other kanto series...

Hey I tried with BW. Gave up on the anime besides checking in for interesting fights or scenes until a friend started watching BW going on about all the things they changed made vast improvements, said it would revamp my appreciation for the anime. I went in with high hopes and got little in return :c

Shame cause Diamond and Pearl wasn't all that bad since Ash assumes almost a Brock like role of a mentor to the new kid and his rival this time around is way stronger and an expy to the "Pokemon is serious business crowd."

Of course the mature intelligent Ash of DP swiftly becomes an idiot once he gets to Unova. The Elesa fight in particular was pretty awful.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the pseudo Garys. Ash and him had a rivalry since they were in diapers. To me, ash's character arc came to a close when he beat him back in johto.

They really aren't Pseudo Garys. At least Paul isn't.

Trip might be but the conclusion to his rivalry with Ash was hilariously underwhelming.

Go watch Black and White since they have a ton of rivals for Ash that are pathetic like that.

Besides Paul is more cruel than arrogant, honestly better with his Pokemon than even Gary, usually "ahead" of Ash but has been beaten by him before, and is not the only rival(Gary was the main rival because he was simply the only one).

Ritchie, the electabuzz girl, and that guy with a blazekin disagree on the only rival thing.

Ritchie only appeared at the very end of Kanto, Electabuzz girl disappeared, and the guy with the Blaziken was the same case as Ritchie.

Paul is like Silver, the rival of Gold and Silver, just like Gary is like Blue of Red and Blue.
