Another one said the M-word... and now correctly spelled... 😠I am a SW fan too, but I don't have to like everything about it. Midi's were redundant, just like a lot of stuff in the PT (like AOTC). That kinda gives the feel of pointless elements in a beloved saga.
It does sort of take away some of the mystery of the Force, but they had to be put into the prequels to explain Anakin's potential more. The main thing in the prequels that bothers me, is that Qui-Gon wasn't in II or III. He should of had the old Obi-Wan like role as a Force ghost, helping Obi-Wan with Anakin or something, it would have made the prequels a little more dramatic I think if they did it right. Qui-Gon's voice in II and him being mentioned by Yoda in III just didn't cut it for me.
lol? Muduclaritians rule.
Seriously... It was a bold move against the Star Wars religious movements. As long as the Force was described as a "mystical energy field", there would always be a wacko or two to believe it and pretend it.
Now that the Force has a scientific explanation, any looney can be calmed down with a simple visit to a doctor. No maduclarities in blood, no telekinesis, no force powers, no kissing your sister, next patient please...

the PT offered nothing new and interesting. NOTHING. everything interesting was already concieved when he made the OT. the rest is just a recycled series of cinematic abortions.hahaha i cant wait for the hate *waits*
Your wait is over.
Hahaha
If you don't like the prequels, shut up and don't buy them on DVD. :-P
The prequels had plenty of everything to offer.
My problem with midi's is not the scientific explanation, my problem is that it doesn't ADD anything to the story. So what if there's midi's??? I think Lucas felt the need to explain how they knew Anakin was special. As if no one would have believed QGJ saying he never felt someone so strong with the Force.

Well when Obi-Wan said the readings were off the chart, over 20,000, not even Master Yoda has a count that high...
That sort of I guess sets the mood that Anakin is very special.
But it is redundant. The fact that QGJ senses something extremely unusual about the boy (he's been around Yoda for a long time) and that Anakin is the only human to fly a podracer should be enough. There is this strange 'need' for hard evidence at play I think. And then, what do the midi's prove to us the viewer??? We don't even know what they are....

They are microscopic lifeforms that reside in all living cells. They have something to do with the will of the force and speaking to the life form who is force-sensitive about it.
Qui-Gon explains it in TPM. Yeah, its a bit hokey, but I don't think its that bad.

But it is redundant. Nowhere in the saga the midi's play any role... ergo, why theheck were they mentioned at all.But for me that is one of my major problems with the PT: it's abundance of redundance.
Well I am sure they will age well. The only major problem I have with the prequels is that ghost Qui-Gon was never in Episode II and III.
