The Incredible Hulk

I think TIH was far superior to the first film, and that it definitely deserves more sequels. Of course we're going to get Norton back as Banner (confirmed, no lie) and that means more Hulk, but I'd still like two more Hulk sequels featuring the Leader and more Abomination. We'll probably get a confirmation on if there'll be any sequels after a few weeks and the DVD sales are accumulated.

they should have doc samson get his powers in one of them.

They probably will. Norton and Leterrier said that TIH is intended to be chapter 1 if this is made into a franchise, so they intentionally left things out. I'm sure Samson will become superhuman in either the second or third film.

I'm wondering how they'll make the Leader look since they redesigned the Abomination.

well no matter what they do there is no way to make the leader look cool

I wouldn't say that until I've seen what kind of designs they were to make. The major thing I like about the Leader is that he's not a fighter per se, but is more smart than any other Gamma creature, and he can get others to fight for him. That's probably where the Abomination will come in.

You may think it's superior and deserves sequels, but the bottom line is not enough people went to see it; that's what matters most to the bean counters in Hollywood.

But if they did go ahead with more films, it has to build to something positive by the third film - the Hulk & Banner have to reach an accommodation, perhaps by becoming 'Professor Hulk.' He becomes accepted by society and has a place. You may be able to keep a character going for decades as a fugitive in a monthly comics series, but movie fans expect closure in a series - the story must reach an end. That's what we see in Lord Of The Rings, Star Wars, the Jason Bourne films, Fantastic Four series and the X-Men series, just as examples.

Great news! But where was it comfirmed?

I could've sworn it was reported on superherohype.com but a member there assures me it wasn't.

According to Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios considers "The Incredible Hulk" to be a success, and that they were glad with the amount it made. It made about $2 million more than the 2003 film domestically, and about $10-12 million more than the 2003 movie internationally. It's still Marvel/Universal's fault that it didn't perform even better because they didn't market the movie as well as they should have. Feige has said that there is no Hulk movie on the slate right now because they want to give other heroes a chance to get a movie seeing as he's had two movies in five years, but he will probably be in "The Avengers" which isn't bad news to me. I think that another Hulk movie will be due around 2012 or 2011, but for now a rest isn't a bad thing.

I'm not sure about that. Of course he shouldn't be a fugitive in every single movie and what not, but becoming accepted by society? I'm not sure, it'd depend on how it's handled, but I guess Leterrier and Norton would be the right people to handle that type of story. Him becoming Professor Hulk would be best to happen by the third film if it happens, so that they can explain it properly throughout the second film. As far as they should go with different incarnations of the Hulk is the Professor Hulk and the Gray Hulk, but no other Hulk's.

For villains, I'd like to think that the Abomination would return and that since Samuel Sterns was introduced, his brother Phil Sterns (aka Madman) would be introduced as well. From what I've read on Wikipedia, Roth is signed on for a total of three films I believe. It had a citation by it so it's true.

From SuperHeroHype.com:

MTV chatted with The Incredible Hulk producer Gale Anne Hurd, who said she has every intention on making a follow-up and that Edward Norton is signed on:

"It's all going to depend on the screenplay and where his character goes in any sequel, because he does have a multiple-picture deal," she said of Norton, who told us recently that he's waiting to hear from Marvel regarding Hulk's future. "[Norton's situation] is the same with every franchise like this, when you have one of the top actors of his generation."

But first, you're likely going to see him in The Avengers:

"Next, he's likely to appear in an 'Avengers' movie, but that's completely up to Marvel," she explained. "It's wonderful that Marvel now controls so many of their own characters, and they can create a Marvel universe in film and populate it with so many of their characters who naturally exist together. I think an 'Avengers' film is a very exciting prospect."

Hurd has some major pull, and if it wasn't for her, we would have probably never seen a Hulk movie in the first place, so there's a big chance there'll be a sequel after "The Avengers". I will say that DVD sales for TIH have been great so far. A few days ago, when I had checked, the movie had sold close to 2 million copies which isn't too shabby at all.

If that's true, and The Avengers is on track for 2011, then there won't be another Hulk film until 2012 or 2013, at the earliest.
Five years between films? Starting to look like the Alien series for frequency.

I don't think it's a bad thing that we have to wait for a Hulk sequel until 2012 or 2013, because Feige is right, the other heroes do need to have a chance to get a movie. Unless they change their mind and they're able to work in another Hulk movie, it'll be a long wait.

In addition to that, Kevin Feige also said that because the Hulk has had two movies in five years, they want to get a chance to establish other heroes, and he's totally right. I'll find the link to the interview later.

Question about Stark's appearance at the end:

When he says there is a team being put together, he's obviously alluding to The Avengers. However, is he telling Ross this because they're hoping to have Hulk join them, or because he's offering to help Ross bring him in?

He is most likely telling Ross that this team will bring in The Hulk, but from what I've read The Hulk is not the villain in the upcoming Avengers film..

So if what I read is true then The Hulk should be part of the Avengers team

Good question, SpaceMonkey, but I'm still unsure about what answer I want to choose. I kind of don't think Stark is the kind to help in a man hunt unless the target was something of true danger, so he could be telling Ross that he wants Hulk on the team.

It would be cool to have this be the climax of the Thor movie. Like Stark approaches Thor during the movie and mentions that he needs his help after seeing him in action(or something) and he goes off and brings Hulk in. That way the Captain America film focuses on his origin and World War action ending with him being frozen, so when we get to The Avengers, it starts off with Thor, IronMan AND Hulk together finding the Captain.

Maybe a stretch, i know.... but it is wishful thinking. 😉

That wouldn't make sense, because it's intended for Hulk to be somewhat of a menace in the Avengers movie, and that can't happen if he's sought after in the Thor movie. Either way it goes, the Captain America movie is meant to explore his time before being frozen, so Hulk being in a Thor movie isn't needed.
