Revealed in a media blast for MGM's forthcoming RoboCop, Brett Ratner has been attached to direct Universal's God of War. Perhaps best known for his work on X-Men: The Last Stand, Ratner is also responsible for the Jackie Chan/Chris Tucker-starring buddy cop Rush Hour series. Ratner's involvement in the project dates back to late May, when the director revealed that he was in discussions to helm the project.

As for why Ratner's participation in God of War was confirmed in a media update for RoboCop, the two films share scriptwriter David Self (Road to Perdition, The Haunting) in common

Aww damn, I hate Brett Ratner. I hope it's not true. Still, in any case, I'd love to see how they'll do the whole thing. Things such as the Titans & them being so huge, the Gods being able to expand their size & grow, and all of the cool powers Kratos had.

This is a bit iffy to me.

If done right, it could be really good. If not, it'll suck.

They originally said Djimon Hounsou, but they never said he was officially cast. Whoever they get needs to be good (and not be Vin Diesel).
