Problem with friza was he went on to long, then he got his dad involved.
(I often wondered why Cooler went to Earth to avenge his brother and not his father?)

All DBZ bad guys are utterly arrogant. I'm pretty sure every one of them always said "lulz. IM TETH MOST POWERFUL BEING IN THE UNIVERSE!!!".
I would have been more impressed with Cell if he wasn't at all like this.

Cell had to much sayian pride within himself, Dr. Gero may have given him Vegeta's and Goku's Cells for combat, but his folly was that he gave him a sayain personality, a part of Goku and Vegeta, Goku would never give up, and all Vegeta cares about is his pride and respect as the Sayian prince.
Friza just thought himself to be the supreme being in the universe and as such no one could match him, as for evil Buu, he just got greedy with the whole absorption process, really you can't blame Kid Buu for anything purely for the lack of intelligence, however he just did what he was born to do, destroy and kill.
As for other villains such as say Garlic Jr. He was obsessed with destroying Gohan and really overestimated his new power, he was asking for trouble when he opened up the dead zone again.
