Query: Can rape ever be humorous?

This, honestly, is not a troll thread. I am being utterly serious because last night I was having an argument with some people I know and I said that rape could be hilarious. They seemed offended by this and started rambling on about how rape is disgusting and whatnot. I agreed that rape is horrible when looking at it from a real-world perspective, but, in the context of a joke or otherwise not-serious situation, it can be funny. For instance, go to the link in my signature and search for "baby f*ck" (unless one is easily offended).

I think it's pretty damn funny, but they, obviously, were appalled at the prospect.

So, what does one think--can rape be humorous?

Well, I seen it used many times in sitcoms and TV shows as humor in alot more appropriate and different ways. It depends on what you mean when you say humorous.

Behold. 😐

Humor is subjective. what one person finds funny another may not.

NO!

Jesus Christ, Family Guy is unfunny. So, in general, is rape. But even the most terrible things can be funny if they're handled right.

How do you make a little girl cry twice?

Spoiler:
Wipe your bloody dick on her teddy bear.

See, that was funny. Or at least I thought so. Obviously, when I read actual news stories about rape, my reaction is different.

see I didn't find that funny, I thought it was sick and twisted but someone else did so it all depends on your definition of funny.

How can rape and a non-serious situation be slapped together? Answer me that.

My answer is NO.

I saw a special showing of Superbad the other day and it was "ab workout" funny to me, but there was enough penis (a lot but it was used right; i can't explain without spoiling) to turn off a lot of people.

You need to have quite a morbid sense of humour to find any joke about rape funny, not that it offends me it just doesnt make me laugh. That baby **** thing isnt funny and if you do think its funny you must be quite a twisted individual.

It made me feel physically sick.

If its a man being raped Its always funny. If its a woman being raped...im sure larry daivd could turn it into a funny joke

What, the FG vid?

Well, I found it hilarious. I mean, you totally forget that it is about rape but more of how Peter takes it as rape for all the wrong reasons and his reactions.

Male rape, I suppose. Double standards and what not.

Well, you can think what you want of me; I can tell you, for whatever it's worth, that the people who know me in real life do not think of me as "twisted."

Context matters. A few months ago, there was a story about a policeman who shot his daughter when he mistook her for an intruder. Not funny. In the cult-classic Evil Dead II, the heroine accidentally stabs the red-neck because she mistakes him for Ash. Funny. Why? Accidentally murdering friends and loved ones is not traditionally considered the height of comedy. It wasn't funny when it happened in the real world. But give it the right set-up and execution in a fictional setting, and it can be. If you dad cheated on your mom, I doubt you'd be laughing; and yet there are far more jokes out there about people committing adultery than there are about rape, and I've never heard it suggested that laughing at them makes me twisted. I don't demand that you find my rape joke funny, but as for trying to judge me by it ... I'm simply applying the same standards to rape that other people do to murder, adultery, and suicide--not funny in the real world, but potentially funny in the right fictional context. And I don't apologize for it.

In fact, I think I may be less twisted then some of the people here, since real world homosexual rape doesn't amuse me in the least, any more than real-world heterosexual rape.

I wasn't juding you it's all about context like you said and people find different things funny.

I was specifically addressing Magee, who called me twisted.

so did I

You called the joke twisted. Which it is. But I, by almost any standards you want to apply (except for Magee's), am not.

Most people would agree that rape on a woman is unfunny, except in only the darkest of humorous contexts (which even I can appriciate at times). Man on man rape, however, can be a gas, thanks to society's double standards.

I wrote a list about a year ago about rapes and the degree of crime committed.

Man on woman: Serious crime. Man most likely gets raped in prison by vigilante wife-murderers.

Woman on man: No crime committed. Man is nominated for Lucky Son of a ***** Award.

Man on man: Hilarious crime. Rapist Man will alternate giving and receiving rape in prison.

Woman on woman: No crime committed. Some asian kid with a camera phone posts on internet. Millions fap. Even though there is evidence of rape (a crime), no crime is committed.

On the topic of Baby F*ck: It's awwright!
