Earth has been hit an estimated six times before by an Asteroid that destoryed all living life save a few single celled organisms that centuries later were able to surface into the oceans and begin the evolution process all over again. The furthest we have able to go under ground is a few miles. In order to survive an Asteroid collision, We would have to be able to right above the core of the Earth. Even then We would probably die from tectonic plate shifts. If we are so smart, why is a large portion of the world dying from curable diseases and an even larger portion dying from hunger. We cannot live together without war or money. We could definetly not come together to live together during an apocalyptic event
And your sources?
What you are referring to in you post is called a “Mass Extinction”
Did you know that the “asteroid impact causes mass extinctions” is all theory anyway?
Dude, you were so ridiculously talking out of your ass. Did you honestly think you could get away with making things up as you go?
The largest mass extinction to ever occur was the Permian-Triassic extinction event. (Mass extinctions are also known extinction events...but you knew that because you obviously know everything about extinctions.) It killed, get this, about 96% of marine life and 70% of land species...hardly your "microbe-only" level of extinction. Even a 1% survival rate of the “macro-biological life” still leaves us with millions upon millions of organism still left alive.
And since you know so much about mass extinctions...you also know that one to NONE were due to asteroids (You know, the one at 65 mil Y.A.)...the asteroid theory is just ONE theory about mass extinctions...so are ice ages, so are plate tectonics...etc.etc. 6 mass extinctions? Where did you pull that from? Even the “top 5” that are so commonly referred to in the scientific community are no where even remotely close to you “microbe-only” survival rate.
Also, how long did it take these mass extinctions to occur? "only a few hours" as you astutely put it...right? WRONG!!! It took hundreds of thousands to millions of years for these extinctions to run their course. Since humanity is the most resilient species this planet has ever seen, why would we not have a successful survival rate compared to all other species in the Earth's history?
And tectonic plates at or near the core of the Earth? Get real dude. You are talking so far out of your ass that you are making John Kerry look good.
I found a nice article on mass extinctions and it should back up just about everything I said...
