Implying that you're a surface person doesn't necessarily mean as insulting, it's just a trait in people that so happens sometimes, it's derogatory in ways but not all of them. No, you're just the one who saw it as an insult (which it clearly wasn't meant as) and saw fit to hurl a stupid comment back instead of politely, if not formally, asking her why she implied that you were superficial.
I act nasty too, but if someone implies something bad about me, I at least act smart enough to inquire why instead of instantly assuming it's pure insult.
"Ugly", on the other hand, that's an entirely different story altogether, your method of an insult and the way you reacted are incredibly immature and spontaneous. You're still pretending it's justified. She's a decent-looking girl, even if she decides to make crazy impressions all the time.
"I use the insults that I want to use", spoken like a true blustering delinquent; fine, you do, but don't attempt to make insults look justified when they so clearly werent. You were acting rather like a hypocrite back then as well.

It's a real-life relationship, not an internet one, and yet you bring it on to the internet as though it matters and that it should be acknowledged (by who, people who don't know him?).
If you did really love him you wouldn't exactly need reminders left, right, and center about it.
