Please let me know what you think. 😄

I've heard that gold is stronger, but then you'd look like a pimp.......LOL, Porcelain would be my choice as it looks like your other teeth. I haven't had that problem myself.....Know why??? I BRUSH TWICE A DAY!! 🙄

I only have had 4 cavities.. 🙂

On a side note, I think they are both weak. Gold is weak and porcelain doesn't really last either. Gold is a great conductor though.....You can pick up radio stations and call it god!

Buddhist Pimp or no pimp........LOL

Pure gold is weak, debbie. The gold we use in crowns is pretty strong.

I wouldn't take the word of a 14 year old kid anyway. 😉 😆

Take the porcelain........Take it, you're teeth will stay white...... 😄

Oh, and start brushing more......lol 😖mart:

His teeth may stay white, but it's also more susceptible to breaking and needing to be replaced, and the life expectancy is also much shorter. Getting porcelain could cause more dental visits, which could result in higher dental insurance. Unless you consider it absolutely imperative that a tooth that will rarely, if ever, be seen is white, go with gold. It'll save you time and money.

Sorry to hear that.I had the same thing a while back.I would pick the normal color of teeth. If yo do get the gold it is not only bad for you.But it does make one look like a pimp.Hope it turns out ok for you.jm

Yea Jackie, showing more flesh in the avatar... *rubs nipple*

I've read the same. If had a choice, but only with a cavity, I'd pick porcelain, not gold. For more deeper work I may pick gold, but then that is in the back of your mouth where it couldn't really show.........

I agree. For something simple like a cavity, I pick composite (it's not porcelain) since their life is decent and they're relatively cheap. But if I needed a posterior crown, I'd definitely go for gold.

Holy crap, dude. Either you never take care of your teeth or you have really crappy dental genetics.

Screw ALL of those Crowns and root canal ideas...get implants...they are much much better in the long run AND, you don't have to wear braces...I worked in dental insurance...trust me.

Now that you mention, I unfortunately have a crappy dental genetics. And its connected with my hair and nails - which are also incredibly weak.

I have to take care of my teeth twice as hard, and they break very easily.

Can you get silver crowns?

No. The amalgam (what a silver filling is made of) is made to grip existing tooth structure. It holds on to that structure, but cannot function without it. So, if someone needs an extraction, you can't fill the gums with amalgam and then shape a tooth.

Ok so you mean to say either you have to have procelein or gold?? So its either pimp or weaker porcelein?

Pretty much. I mean, don't sell yourself short on either. For a front tooth, I'd definitely pick porcelain. But when cosmetics aren't involved, always go for the strongest material.

Well hoping I wont need it but just finding out just in case.

That doesn't affect your bones in some manor does it? If so, you could be Bruce Willis's arch nemesis.

Root Canals are a breeze.

The crown is a pain in the ass, cuz they had to take the mold a dozen times, and they file your tooth down. They have to make sure the crown fits your bite.

Shakyamunison will thank Robtard in advance. 😆

Advice from a professional:

The determining factors would be which tooth it is and aesthetics......Gold (high yellow noble) is always the best because of bio-compatibility and hardness is like natural dentition. Porcelain is harder than natural dentition and can wear the opposing tooth down unless the occlusal surface is gold. Other new materials like Zirconia, have proven to be very good. The best crown which we know lasts 30+ years if done correctly, is Porcelain Fused to Gold (High Noble Yellow).

Oddly, it's very similar to what Feceman said...

Could Feceman be Robtard's father inlaw?

I just got back from the first appointment, and it has went well. I am going to go with gold. Thanks much to all the help. 😄

First appointment, eh? So that means they've sent out the molding and you've got a temporary?
