Fair enough, I suppose. But it's not always good to invest in a significant other. Notice, I said a significant other. These men and women come and go. Sometimes you never find the right one, but family bonds are meant to last a lifetime. I mean shit, I'm not crazy about my family in the least, but I love and appreciate them partly for the fact that I know they won't be here forever and neither will I. That's a personal philosophy, though. It might not apply to you or anyone else who posted in this thread, but it's something to think about.

I understand what you're saying, I mean if I need things my family helps me out, but emotionally there is really no feelings there anymore. I really can't say when they were lost but over time just something has happened in my family and we aren't all close as we once were.

Same here, man. I guess it's evolutionary thing. When you've reached a certain level of independence and maturity, you kind of loosen those ties. Because let's face it, the years you're infatuated with your parents and/or extended family are the ones where you need them the most physiologically and emotionally.

I have a feeling in 3 years or so when I'm moved out I'll only see them on holidays.
