That's happened already, Mauvais took over the Wendigo spirit and was a BEAST. He even was a powerful magical user who Dr.Strange said he was unsure if he could beat him and that was before he took over the Wendigo's body.

Classic Abomination was tough back in the day, but only because the Hulk was far weaker than he is today. Even Professor Hulk made short work of guys that gave him fits back in the day.
