However, during their ice skating competition, when supremely motivated, Ryoga moved, (to catch/stop Mikado Sanzenin) and far more impressively, then hurled two enormous buoying blocks of ice, with an approximate total weight of roughly 250 to 700 metric tons, at least 20 metres. He here used Ranma's head as a brace not to fall into the water, but the latter nonetheless supported the pressure from the floating slabs. Although, to throw the weight such a great distance would, at the very least, take dozens of times the effort from simply lifting it.

but he's still made of rock. i think its the material that counts. so it can break rock and ben i guess. what about colossus? would it work on him too? he is steel after all. and the technique works on finding the breaking point or something, would it work on adamantium? what about caps shield

The living beings thing was the conclusion that it doesn't work on flesh. It has to do with the concept of resistence. Softer materials are harder to cut/break because they yeild and some of the energy is lost due to deflection. more rigid materials will break rather than bend because all the energy is going into the bonds.
