Such a good live band.
Yes they are! I saw them twice on the first leg....both times out of the US lol...Once in Toronto and once in Mannheim Germany. I can't wait to see what the setlist will look like second time around. (I heard they were changing it up a bit). Not that there was anything wrong with the first one though!
Saw the Mars Volta last night!
They had no opening band, which I thought was kind of cool, more time for them of course. At first I was thinking, "More like the Late-Volta", they were over 30 minutes late, but that's okay, because they played for about 2 and a half hours, and it was an amazing concert. I danced the whole time, talk about fun. Plus Cedric is such a great front man, he kept us entertained well.
They are amazing live, everyone should at least give them a try.

Dr. Octagon (aka Kool Keith)
Worst. Concert. Ever. Kool Keith lacked any ounce of energy and interaction (which is ironic due to the intimacy of the crowd) with the audience. The man was clearly rapping over his own voice on vinyl or CD (which ever of the two devices it was coming from) and was pulling some stupid ass bullshit on stage. Firstly, after a number of songs this other rapper that was accompanying him on stage was telling us how Keith wanted to be a singer and such instead of a rapper, which Keith acknowledge and then proceed to do some (intentionally) annoying high pitched squeals that, after the first two seconds became irritating but proceed for at least another two minutes. Then again, after another number of songs he went on to discuss porn and then got out some magazines from his bag and was just flipping through it and telling tell how hot she was and just talking about the kinds of porno mags and such. This went on for like 10 minutes. The song choice was awful and the DJ (Kutmasta Kurt) was ****ing up. It was so ****ing shameful that I walked out probably 20 minutes or so minutes before finishing as there was no way he was saving that show. I was (and still am) totally disillusioned.

Dream Theater
It was their first time ever in Australia and they were nothing short of amazing. They played for 3 hours (with a 15 minute intermission of course) but they gave it their best and preformed with so much energy, passion and just good fun. The solo's from Rudess and Petrucci were phenomenal and Portnoy's and Myung's playing skill was nothing short of spectacular with LaBrie pumping the crowd into a moshing frenzy. Great night.
