Mass Effect is going to the PS3

Patcher...

That could be good....maybe the surface filler won't lag behind so much on the PS3 for ME II and III. I certainly will be buying a PS3...maybe I will buy my ME II and III for the PS3 the next time around...

Also, FistofthNorth...I completely understand where you are coming from...you make total sense...some RPGs I just love up and down and others I loathe. Example is KOTOR/Jade Empire/Mass Effect....I love those games...I hate Elder of the Scrolls, though...weird...I know, but that is how I am.

Unfortunately, the rest of the game isn't nearly as impressive.

Already, I can tell the vehicle segments are going to be shit. The vehicle handles really poorly, inexcusably so, and it dies very quickly, coupled with the piss poor placement of autosaves (a disturbing trend with some recent games) it makes the vehicle segments just annoying and a chore.

I had the same problem with the Mako...it dies too easily...I got better at using it and it actually keeps you alive a LOT longer staying inside on certain things...If you get good enough, you can dodge any of those missle/energy attacks that are slow...just simply fire your jets off at the right time. Also, I noticed that the missles and energy blasts are aimed at the front of the Mako so do you fights sideways and just go backwards after you are fired on and it should miss everytime. Also, another advantage to the Mako..when you approach enemies from a height...try to position yourself so that incoming fire hits a ledge in front of you...you usually have to go down the cliff a little bit and have a little mound or lump of cliff in front of you for this to work...usually going backward or forward helps you reposition enough to get around the mound/lump of land you positioned in your way to avoid fire...this technique works like an M-r F-in' charm in gun fights...but don't forget that incoming fire is aimed at the front of the Mako.

Yeah, I've gotten better with it since last night. I figured out that you should fight 'sideways', as you said, that's a good strat.

I still don't like the controls, they feel kinda loose, you know? Like sometimes pushing back on the control stick with cause it to go forward depending on the camera, it's confusing at time.

The controls in the game are not the best but they aint bad.

I had a problem with the Mako, but I got used too it and after a few deaths, I never died after that.

It gets alot easier, especially if you have a good electronic skill.

Also, I'm pretty sure ME wont come to the PS3 because I assumed its an MS published game.

I thoroughly agree that the camera angles inside the make suck major ass...they should redo that shit...it isn't very much work to change how the camera interacts in the game...

Yeah, I got much better with the vehicle, thankfully.

Anywho, I beat the main story last night, and am now playing it again trying to be a renegade-type.

The game really latched on and addicted me like few games have in recent memory, I quite literally played this all day yesterday, and about another 6 hours today.

if you dont like rpgs, its not the game for you.

I love RPGs but ultimately was bored by Mass Effect (didn't even finish the first mission before I brought it back). Then again, I found all of the KOTOR comparisons to be very accurate which would explain a lot about why I don't care for this game.

I might give it another try later when I don't have games I want to play more. Also the fact that it's so damn short for an RPG (15 hours if you just do the story? Ridiculous) doesn't help matters either.

QFT. I did not like how short the main story is....it needed to be about 25-30 hours long...my first play through was about 39 hours...and i solved just about EVERY single side quest possible...seriously. (Believe me...I recently looked at the game guide at EB games to check on all the side quests that I may have missed...I missed only like 4 or 5 of them...3 of which all depend on talking to that admiral after you find a body on some planet...)

I like how the game is shorter than most.

I dont need a 50 hour game.

Well after still haven't touched anything but side missions, I think I'm going to give them a break and touch on the Main Story now. At least 1 or 2 of the main missions before I go back to side quests.

I need to get a feel for how the item finding and selling and buying of weapons work. I haven't touched that at all. Haven't found anything to sell for money or anything. I have a feeling that'll be solved in the main missions yes?

From what I have seen of the selling and buying system, I don't think I like it all that much.

Anata wa wakarimasu ka.....

Very little of what I find is worth selling, I rather gel it. But I also haven't felt the need for buying anything yet.

Must say I had some good fun at

Spoiler:
Noveria
, I actually had to think to find the morally correct solution to the
Spoiler:
garage pass
problem. In the end I managed to choose the right one and was awarded first 26 Paragon points followed by 8 Paragon points, so definitely the "right" one.

Also, later on on the same planet I got some problems with the

Spoiler:
Benezia-fight room, with the Asari biotics and Benezia herself
, the fun thing was that I first gave up, returned to the game 4 hours later and got through at first try. And even though the game seems way too easy sometimes, it certainly gets tough now and then.

Yeah, I really feel, by not having touched any of the main missions yet, I haven't even begun to really get involve with the good and bad choice selections yet. I'm not getting any Paragon Points or anything.

I don't even know what the whole raising of levels in the Paragon or Renegade meters is about.

I've been waiting to raise a level so that I may have a conversation option become available so that I may solve the

Spoiler:
"Hanar preaching on the Citadel"
problem the Paragon way. So yeah, I need to get into the main missions.

I'm expecting the game to pick up greatly in the main missions.

Ok, that's good to hear then, b/c even with the side missions, I haven't found much use in purchasing of other weapons either.

All that I've purchased are those little card things, not knowing what they're for or if they'll have a purpose further along in the game.

Not that I've gained in money to buy anything of value.

And as for the Gel. Ugh. Yeah. I have a bunch of weapons that I'm not using that I've found, not purchased, along the way that I just won't gel for some reason b/c of some obscure reason unbeknownst to me.

Maybe I believe these lower leveled weapons will be of some use later in the game. ('_ ' )
Not as if they'll worth enough to sell anyways.

Yeah.........I need to gel them. D@mn you possible OCD. (>_< )

It will. thumbsup

What I ended up doing was pretty much JUST doing the main quests during my first play through. I wasn't planning on it, but I was so engrossed in the story I just kept doing the next main mission to see what would happen next and so that I could go and have new conversations with my crew. It ended up taking about 14 hours just to finish the main missions. Sounds short, but most of that time was spent doing conversing and watching cinematics, so the story and especially the characters ended up being exceptionally well developed, on par with the best of the longer 30-40 hour RPGs I've played (and better than most, I'm looking at you, FFXII, a 50 hour and they couldn't even make me care about one of the main characters beyond thinking "this guy is kinda cool, I guess." For shame).

What's great, though, is that after you beat it you can go back and start a new game with your same character, leveled up and everything and with all the good equipment. So I went back and did that and now in my second play through I'm doing all the sidequests I can while altering the way my character acts. I was mostly a honorable guy during my first play through, now I'm being more a renegade, and it's pretty amazing how much this changes the experience, despite the story being the same, it adds a level of freshness that I've never before experienced during a second play-through of a game.

The game length is completely fine, I think. The game has by far the best replay value of any RPG I've ever played, I could easily see myself playing through this game 4 times or so just to try out all the different dialogue types, and different romances and subplots and stuff. Taking that replay value into account and the amount of time it will take if you do the sidequests (most of which I find are just as engrossing and well done as the main quest, a real rarity) and you have a game that you could play for around 100 hours in total.

Now that is something I didn't know about. So I guess it is possible to get to lvl 50 after all. I had completed most of the sidequests and main quests during my first playthrough and only got to lvl 47, so I was wondering how the heck I could reach levels 50 and 60.

Yes, that would probably be the best way to go about it.

Haha.

Maybe that aspect of the game is fixed in Revenant Wings. ('_' )( '_'😉('_' )

It is a shame......I haven't even finished that game. hmmm.

Anata wa wakarimasu ka.....

lol, I doubt it. That game doesn't seem like one that will be heavy on story or character development.

We'll see, though.

I must say, now that I'm using some "common sense" and actually zooming in with the turret on the Mako, combat with the Mako is much more easy and becoming a little bit fun.

I actually had to read the manual to realize if you zoomed in and ALSO PUSHED DOWN ON THE "R PAD", it zoomed in so much more and made shooting down things, especially enemy turrets, so much more easier.

So yeah.

Also, yesterday while playing I ended up having my Shepard in Ashley's Pink Armor suit.

I have nothing against Pink, but the design scheme for suits changes for males and females. (Breasts)

SO I hated how it looked on him. It looked so fake and generic. Thankfully today that was all fixed when I found a better suit.

And I did my first Main Mission. Enjoyed it. Now I'm back with my Side Missions. I try and finish them all before I go to the next main mission and just when I think I'm almost done, another one pops up.

I also returned to the Citadel today b/c of some mission that started on some planet that involved killing someone, blah blah, and just by going back I got involved with a few more missions.

I also finally picked up some more Paragon points though so that was good and was able to resolve the whole preaching thing in the Presidium by getting more points and opening up the conversation option I had been waiting for.

So yeah......tried the mission that involves

Spoiler:
you going to the Earth's Moon and helping with the Rogue AI Problem
but that was much too hard so I'll definitely have to leave that for later.

So yeah.......I'm really enjoying the combat now, both with the Mako and on foot.

I must say, they did a VERY SWELL JOB explaining combat.....JUST MARVELOUS.

Romantic sidequest -

Spoiler:
Who did you guys decide to hook up with? I asked them both to have a 3way, but Ashley refused and gave me a "I will snipe your testicles off if you even think about it again" look. Then Liara started explaining to me how their union works. Apparentely sex for the Asari is not just sex...its like sex but...on the galactic scale or some shit like that. I dunno.
