Because you don't have a huge die pool with guns and considering the fact that Lo Qi fights unarmed, he's certainly got all of the auxiliary defenses. If you want to see how well shooting someone with NO works when you don't have a large pool, go take a look at the dojo fight between San and Mors from last year. This will be a very similar case.
You don't have a very big die pool with MA, either, but with powers like HL, HT, SS, and DiM, it won't matter too much. Also as you fight up close unarmed, he can't use CF (or it's bonus) so he won't be hitting you as hard as he was myself and Cloud.
So I should fight hin in melee without tapping my gun powers first? I thought that tapping EE gives me a pretty good chance of hitting.... and I can tap BT, when I don`t have melee defensive power left.
Edit- But it seems you know the system better, so Melkor will switch to unarmed strike on LO QI, not tapping powers yet.
EE won't do you any good because you'll actually have to hit first. Even if it gets you past him having LA you'll still have almost no dice to hit with.
And BT only works as defense against gun attacks anyway, and he's not going to be shooting at you.
Using your guns is just going to be wasting time that we don't have to waste.
Melkor, I don't think you read the BT description properly.
Here:
Effect: You can only make Gun attacks, and cannot use cover. All mooks need 6s on Guns rolls to get successes against you.
If you don't switch out BT you'll run into melee with a character most definitely designed to kick your ass and you'll only be able to shoot him...
Lo Qi has blocked Berserker's knife attack and is about to twiat him around and snap his neck, when Melkor attacks the finally tiring Lo Qi from behind. Lo Qi blocks Melkor too (who rolled more 1s than successes), turns and twists...
... and Berserker's knife is sticking through Lo Qi's chest. Lo Qi makes no expression at all as he falls, slowly.
Azrael, you are locked in a clinch with Jericho as he is trying to bisect your face with his sword, as he holds you off.
"Jericho!" calls Agent Daniels, from the Decon doorway.
Two more Agents are moving in, guns raised.
