I never understood the idea of having the best signature maker from the previous round and the person who got last place in the previous round go against each other. Seems a bit lopsided.

Ask the NCAA.

The point is to make the final as close as possible. Thus, instead of having the winner of 7/8 face the winner of 1/2 for the final...the little guys get knocked off early, providing the potential for upsets, and letting the big boys warm up for the big game.

I thought no one was ever allowed to wear the contest signatures until after the round was over, isn't that how we've always done it?
