Superman vs Silver surfer

Started by pulsar387 pages

On one occasion Loki hyped up the Silver Surfer's power to defeat Thor. However I read somewhere that on three other occasions Thor defeated Silver Surfer. The Grand Master easily defeated the Defenders (Dr. Strange, Valkyrie, Hulk, Submariner and Hawkeye) without the Silver Surfer. However the Grand Master was out smarted by Dare Devil in that same story. The Surfer has defeated people of the Grand Master's race, if they are powerful as the Grand Master I do not know. So an exact comparison of the Surfer's power to the Grand Master is not available.

In a fist fight Superman wins easy. I think the Thing knocked Surfer out before as did a collision with Iron Man in another story. Superman is far more powerful than thing or Iron Man. However if Silver Surfer used his power to transform matter he might be able to beat Superman, so a Superman win is not a given.
u think thing knockred him out. a gas station explosion knocked superman down. quit bringing up crap. its jus silly. surfer destorys planets when pissed. he beat superman 7 outta ten.

I shall do a comprhensive(sp?) list of Superman's and Silver Surfer's powersets , and then we all can make up own minds.

Superman's Powers ...
Clark Kent's Kryptonian body acts as a solar battery absorbing solar energy which can then be used as various remarkable powers. If Earth had a red sun like Krypton's, Clark would not have these powers. Using his powers causes Clark to use up his stored yellow sun energy. He can lose his powers if he expends a lot of energy quickly (e.g. during his battle with the monster Doomsday) or if he spends too much time away from a yellow sun while in outer space. When low on solar energy, Clark can 'recharge' if exposed to a source of yellow sun energy. The rate at which he 'recharges' can vary. When he has absorbed excess solar energy, his power levels have been above normal until the excess power is burned up.
Superman's superpowers include:
Strength - although varying depending on his energy levels, Clark is among the strongest superheroes on Earth, capable of lifting a plane.

Flight - able to defy gravity, possibly through sheer force of will.

Invulnerability - years of exposure to yellow solar energy have caused Clark's Kryptonian body to become almost indestructible. His natural bio-electric aura also has limited force field properties protecting items near his skin e.g. his costume. His cape is not protected by his aura.
Clark can survive in outer space as long as he has a breathing apparatus, and doesn't lose too much solar energy. Without an air supply, Superman can last between an hour and ninety minutes in space, after taking a deep breath. Using his powers of flight and super-speed Clark can travel inter-planetary distances by himself. Interstellar distances require assistance e.g. a spaceship, teleportation belt.

Super-speed - capable of superhuman speed, Clark can fly from Metropolis to have dinner with Lois Lane in Paris, France, or in a few minutes fly to the Moon.

Super-breath - Clark's invulnerability and strength exist internally too, affecting his skeleton and internal organs. After in

that was only a few years after the crisis, and superman was alot weaker than he is nowadays...

superman nowadays, in a fist fight, would beat surfer... not by much, but he would beat him...

the only advantage surfer has over superman (and a big advantage it is), is his matter manipulation...

surfer wins 7 out of of ten.

probably, because of his manipulation abilities...

my desktop froze up . I had a virus that was adding addware in like crazy, b4 I rebooted and reformated my ststems i had somthing like 4000+ advertisment pages loaded onto my comp within 5 minuets.

Surfer takes out Supes in just under 27 seconds.......The only DC hero that can go toe to toe with the Surfer is the Batman with his world class belt and "prep".......( Oh,the files....I forgot about the files....With Bat Belt,Prep Time and Files Batman could rule the entire galaxy if he wanted to ).........

Silver Surfer would win hands down without even breaking a sweat. He has powers to control the universe.Granted Superman has some powers also, they can't even begin to the power and vastness of the surfer.

Supes takes 6/10

Considering Silver Surfer's powers, there's really no legitimate way that Superman can win. This is just a mismatch. There's no comparison.

i wouldnt go that far. but i see surfer winning 6 out of 10. supes can beat him these four times if he gets in close and turns it into a punching match. other than that i see surfer winning 60 percent of the time. surfer is just to powerful for kal-el.

4/10 for Superman is very generous. Surfer has sheilds, intangibility and is faster. The deck is stacked against him so badly it's sad. Surfer shouldn't have to exert himself too much. Just drain him, or merge him with his board and keep it moving.

punching Surfer would be a big mistake. he's durable beyond anything Superman could inflict damage upon. he goes through suns like they're nothing.

anyway, if Surfer wanted to get sadistic, he could always make his body radioactive in the same way that Kryptonite is, Superman wouldn't want to go 'close in' then.

i know in theory someone with the surfers abilities would take this like everytime. but superman still has enough in him to put surfer out some of the time. i still think surfer wins 60 percent of the time. that is a solid majority.
